A Night’s Reprieve From Fashion Month—Well, Sort Of

Fashion talk switched over—temporarily, of course—to the subject of interiors last night as Martyn Lawrence-Bullard, the go-to designer for Tamara Mellon, Eva Mendes, Elton John, and half of posh London, was fêting his new furniture line. The soirée was held at Guinevere Antiques on the King’s Road, SW6—for those not inducted into the world of high-end interiors, call it the Savile Row of interior design. Lawrence-Bullard’s just nabbed the 2010 Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year Award—think of it as the CFDA of design—and he’s no stranger to the shop floor, either: He’s currently hard at work on the new Jimmy Choo shop-in-shop at Selfridges. Sophie Dahl, David Furnish, and Lady Victoria Hervey all popped by for a drink and a chat. And, perhaps, to kiss the ring, the sooner to move up the wait list. “He’s at the top of the wish list for so many people I know,” swimwear designer Melissa Odabash (pictured, with Bullard) gushed. “His work is really the couture of the interior world.” Ah, there’s that fashion talk again.
