Tod’s, On Point And En Pointe
Diego Della Valle of Tod’s and Teatro alla Scala’s Stéphane Lissner held a press conference this afternoon to announce their new partnership. The Italian brand famous for its driving shoes will sponsor the legendary Milan theater’s upcoming season, and to celebrate the union, they showed off a specially commissioned short film. Directed by Matthias Zentner, it stars La Scala ballerinas with choreography by Gianluca Schiavoni meant to evoke the multiple steps required to make Tod’s products. “Tod’s and Teatro alla Scala are both passionately Italian,” Della Valle said. “We’re committed to keeping alive the skills and traditions that lie at the heart of our culture.” No, the dancers aren’t wearing these special Tod’s ballerina flats in the video, but they could have; they come with satin ribbon ties not unlike real ballet shoes. You can watch the video at www.tods.com, and you can pick up the flats come November for $575 at Tod’s boutiques across the U.S.
