Wherever Karl Lagerfeld goes, a crowd is sure to follow. The designer’s magnetic force attracted hundreds of fashion editors and even more hangers-on last night to a converted bank on rue du Quatre-Septembre after a long day of shows to see his new capsule collection for Hogan, watch the short movie he made to promote the collaboration, and, of course, catch a glimpse of the man himself. Asked why he recruited Lagerfeld for the project, Diego Della Valle, chairman and CEO of Tod’s Group, which owns Hogan, said, “The answer is easy: because Karl is a genius. He gave a lot of energy and the result is very good; we’re very happy.” The results in question include sporty nylon jackets in silver or black, sneakers with double ankle straps, a trainer-cowboy boot hybrid, and flat bags with multicolored geometric flaps. All of them had starring roles in the Lagerfeld-directed video alongside Magdalena Frackowiak, Baptiste Giabiconi, and Sebastien Jondeau. They arrive in stores at the end of January.
