(Under) Passage To India
This week, Waris Ahluwalia (left)—jeweler, man-about-town, tea drinker—opened his House of Waris Tea Room in the temporary space under the High Line on Manhattan’s West 24th Street where Simon Spurr was previously in residence. (The space, the site of a former sales office for the neighboring HL23 condominium, is managed by Building Fashion, which works with the developers and designers to create installations; next up are Richard Chai and Siki Im.) For his Tea Room, Ahluwalia sourced his own selection of teas from an estate in Darjeeling, which he’ll be pouring for friends and passersby. They’ll also have a chance to browse the shop’s other offerings, all of them contributed by friends and collaborators. Ahluwalia gave Style.com a private tour of the space, which stays up until October 17. Click here to check it out.
The House of Waris Tea Room is now open at 504 W. 24th St., New York City.
