Yigal Azrouël Is Paris Bound
It was rumored earlier this month, but we can now exclusively confirm: New York-based designer Yigal Azrouël will show his Fall 2011 men’s collection on the runway in Paris, closing out the week with a show on the evening of Sunday, January 23. “I decided to show my men’s collection in Paris this season because I feel like the inherent aesthetic lends itself to a more a European feel,” Azrouël told Style.com this morning. “While the American market remains extremely important to me, growing our men’s presence overseas is also a main focus. I like the idea that it is men’s fashion week and that it has a more focused environment for the menswear brands.” This is the second growth opportunity for YA menswear in as many seasons: For Spring ’11, Azrouël showed his menswear collection on the runway for the first time (it had previously been seen in presentation format). Style.com will cover Azrouël’s Fall ’11 show from Paris, as well as all of the key menswear shows from Milan and Paris this January.
