As Good As Gold?

At Stella McCartney’s lavish houseparty-cum-pre-fall-presentation yesterday, there was so much to look at above you—the endlessly high ceilings, the snaking staircases, and atop it all, the doo-wop quartet harmonizing in the roof garden—that you’d be forgiven if you forgotten to look down. But if you did, you’d miss a key part of the presentation: McCartney’s footwear. As always, earth- and animal-friendliness was the name of the game: she used no animal leathers, and even biodegradable lug soles on a knee boot. But despite that bit of eco-mindedness, our favorites were still the patent pumps (above), with glinting gold embellishments, chunky heels of varying heights and a soft, slightly squared-off toe.
