Closet Case

January 21, 2011  9:00 am

Clothing voyeurs now have a site to indulge their closet fantasies. TheCoveted.com is an online publication dreamed up by a Toronto trio with New York ties featuring stalk-worthy pics of notable wardrobes—think The Selby for the fashion-obsessed. It launches today. Founders Stephanie Mark (who worked under Kate Lanphear at Elle) and Erin Kleinberg (who earned her stripes assisting Alex White at W) collaborated with Yale Breslin on the project as a way to get inside the most important room in any clothing collector’s house.

“There are so many blogs and Web sites that put editors in the highest regard,” Breslin explained. “They’re starting to view them as celebrities, so the site is a way to deconstruct that.” There’s already a street-style favorite roster, including Teen Vogue’s Mary Kate Steinmiller and Harper’s Bazaar’s Joanna Hillman, on board; and while others may be less well known, like Helmut Lang’s PR director, Mona Sharf, or Flare’s assistant fashion editor Fiona Green, the way online fame goes, a following is surely just clicks away.
