Thakoon 2.0

Close readers of the Q&A with Tony King that went live on this blog earlier today will have noticed a screenshot of Thakoon Panichgul’s Web site. But anybody tempted to visit left disappointed. The designer’s site is in the middle of a major overhaul (courtesy of King & Partners); it’s scheduled to relaunch on Monday, February 14, the day after Panichgul’s Fall 2011 show. As if that’s not a sweet enough Valentine’s Day present, anybody who registers to be notified when the site goes live will be entered to win a $1,000 gift certificate that can be used when the e-commerce portion goes up in July. Until then, the most enticing reason to log on to the new will be the buffed-up behind-the-scenes elements. “It’ll be a voyeuristic look of what happens here,” Panichgul promises, “whether it’s discussing new fabrics or bantering about someone’s personal style.” Speaking of those fabrics, we convinced him to share a few hints about his upcoming collection, and here they are: “color, opulence, ethnic, grown-up.”
