Sweden Arrives In NYC

The Swedish menswear label Our Legacy has two stores in Stockholm, but none—so far—in the U.S. But they’re testing the waters with a pop-up installation at New York’s Odin. All of the furnishings for the space, which is open now through the end of the season, were selected in homage to the brand’s unfussy aesthetic, one that is driven less by trends than by an affinity for classic cool. “Ever since we started, ‘timelessness’ has been the leading word for us,” co-designer Jockum Hallin said as he supervised a crew hanging glazed lamps and arranging piles of linen shirts at the space. The line’s Spring collection, Observations, includes some sporty pieces, like soft cotton sweatshirts and piqué knit polos, but also a good selection of casual, affordable suiting, including a few feather-light unlined jackets. According to Odin’s Eddy Chai, who’s been carrying the line for seasons, that’s what his customers are after. “We’re seeing guys come back to suiting,” says the retailer, who was the first to pick up Our Legacy’s collection in the U.S. several season back.
