No Louboutins Allowed
For Anne V., no shoes are no problem—so long as it’s for a good cause. Despite the drizzly weather this morning, the Russian model (best known for her seven-year streak of Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue appearances, and her relationship with Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine) led a troupe of pedicured supporters (FYI, her own paint job was DIY) on a barefoot walk around the Christopher Street Pier in downtown Manhattan for TOMS Shoes’ fourth annual One Day Without Shoes. Since its founding, TOMS has been donating a new pair of shoes to a child in need for each pair sold, and for the past few years, raised awareness still further with its annual shoeless event, dedicated to spreading the word and gathering funds. Anne’s is just one of the many events taking place around the country today. “People don’t realize what a basic need footwear is,” she said before grabbing her umpteenth cup of coffee (she woke up at 3 a.m. to promote the cause on a morning news show as well). “Even if it’s just taking off your shoes for ten minutes at your desk, it’s about raising awareness.” You can raise your own at www.onedaywithoutshoes.com.
