Nicola Formichetti’s Zombie Boy

If fashion reinterpreted Avatar, it would look similar to Nicola Formichetti’s latest Zombie Boy project. During New York fashion week, the Mugler designer and Lady Gaga stylist debuted his first collaboration—a life-size avatar with Mugler-designed clothes—with the multiplayer game company CCP at his Walker Street pop-up shop.

In layman’s terms: “We call it ‘sophisticated technology.’ Through the use of CCP’s Carbon technology graphics, the virtual runway became a fully interactive, real-time virtual catwalk experience,” Formichetti says. If you are still unclear what this next-level design technique is, Formichetti explains it all in a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of his Zombie Boy concept with Rico Genest in a short documentary, debuting exclusively on Dazed Digital today.
