On Our Radar: O’2nd-------
The O’2nd moniker is unfamiliar in the U.S., but in its native Korea and in China, the label is a leader in the contemporary market. Will it make waves here? Barneys is betting it might. The retailer has an exclusive on the line in the States, where it’s been on racks since late last year and reportedly selling well. That, unlike its mouthful of a brand name, is easy to understand. The line’s silhouettes skew classic, but unexpected color combinations and fabrications keep things interesting, and the modest price point ($95 to $595) keeps it attainable. And according to a brand rep, U.S. expansion is in the works. A standalone store is tentatively plotted for 2013, with more outlets to follow.
