Balenciaga Bows On Rue Saint-Honoré
Mark your calendars now: Tomorrow is opening day for Balenciaga’s new Paris flagship on the Rue Saint-Honoré. Created as a plurality of destinations within the world’s ultimate shopping spot, the space offers a cosmopolitan sampling of interior design details by Nicolas Ghesquière and the French contemporary artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, including elements from the historical Avenue George V address, the men’s boutique on the Rue de Varenne, and the London shop (there’s also a new Soho store in the works for NYC). Perhaps best of all, now that summer is officially AWOL, you can fast-forward directly to Fall—the pre-fall is here in the orange “London” section on the left side of the store. The show doesn’t stop when the doors close at nightfall, either. Behind glass picture windows, a robotic mannequin travels along embedded ceiling rails carrying one outfit, while another toward the back of the store spins on its axis throughout the night.
