Liv For Acting, Not Givenchy

Liv Tyler will not attend the Givenchy Spring 2013 show in Paris later this month—she has enough on her plate between filming a new movie in L.A. and taking her son Milo to school. So it was a rare appearance for the working mom last night as she stepped out to Exchange Alley for a Vs. Magazine dinner launching the fall issue. Tyler appears on the cover and is featured in a spread shot by Helena Christensen. “I’ve known Helena since I was 15 years old. She shot me years ago for the first-ever cover of Nylon!” Things have changed since their last shoot—this time, the two brought their children. “We planned the whole shoot around our sons. The boys were together and catching snakes while we were outside in the woods frolicking and taking pictures.”

The dinner was a smaller affair, limited to a few of Tyler’s friends and Vs. staffers. Erin Fetherston and beau Gabe Saporta came to support Tyler, and Helena Christensen cozied up for a chat in the back of the East Village eatery with Michael Stipe and performance artist Colette Lumiere. Tyler was particularly delighted to see Josh Hartnett turn up. “Joshy! Where have you been?” asked Tyler. He replied, “Been living in Europe mostly. Italy and France.”

Tyler, still a face of Givenchy cosmetics and friend of Riccardo Tisci, thinks that he will understand her absence from the show. “I’ve been very fashion loyal for a few years now,” she confided. “I miss acting.”
