Delfina Delettrez: To Infinity And Beyond

Infinity refers to something without any limit. It’s an idea jewelry designer Delfina Delettrez started toying with last season with her Metalphysics collection, where she explored her obsession with mirrors, and she’s delved into it a bit deeper for Spring. “For this collection, I wanted to play with optical illusions and create a sharper feeling of surrealism, with pearls and rubies that seem to float within the transparency of the resin and reflect themselves in the metallic surfaces,” she tells of her collection. “It was taking the idea of mirrors to the next level, creating reflections that give the impression of infinity.”

She achieves that with highly polished metals inset with pearls and precious stones. And for the first time ever, she’s worked rubber into her bracelets, necklaces, and chokers. “I wanted to play with colors, which has been one of the codes throughout all of my collections, but in a different and more minimal way,” she says. “I wanted to elevate an everyday material like rubber into a luxury item, and paired it with drops of colored enamel and stones set in colored silicone to create an unexpected mix of materials.” Those single-earring statement pieces that have come to be a Delettrez signature are also getting a new level of sophistication—she’s switched out the bee and lip embellishments for precious stones, including diamonds. “I wanted to add a classical touch to it, like the diamond spheres, to juxtapose that classic look with the very unconventional mechanism of the piece,” she explains. Here, a look at some of her newest wares for Spring.
