H&M Announces Top Picks for its 2013 Design Award
Today H&M announced the shortlist of eight designers who will compete for its 2013 Design Award. Launched last year, the initiative aims to support emerging European fashion talent. This year’s winner will be given a $66,550 prize, and looks from his or her collection—which will be shown along with the rest of the finalists’ at Stockholm Fashion Week (January 28th through February 10)—will be produced and sold at H&M. The promising lot of nominees includes Maia Bergman (left) Alba Prat, Erik Litzén, Eleonora Bruno, Mark Tan, Daniela Salazar, Minju Kim, and Thom Barends. 2013′s big winner will be selected by a panel of industry experts—which includes Style.com’s own Tim Blanks—and announced on January 29. But H&M wants your input, too. In the spirit of democracy, the brand will also be awarding a People’s Prize, and the winner will receive an internship with selection panel member Jonathan Saunders.
