Angela Scott has a Stripe in her Step

The Office of Angela Scott‘s Fall 2013 footwear collection is just the right balance of vintage prep and wacky fun. Designed by Angela Scott (naturally), the range of hand-stitched women’s penny loafers, boots, and brogues (some of which are hiked up on four-inch heels) mixes menswear influences with graphic black and pop-colored stripes (think neon yellow, fuchsia, and baby blue). “My customer is a walking woman,” says the California-born, Texas-based designer. And it would seem there are plenty of “walking women” out there. Since launching four seasons ago, Scott has landed herself in major retailers like Tenoversix, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue. What’s more is that the designer recently opened her first boutique in Dallas, aims to bow a second location in New York or California in the near future, and is working on a line of handbags. This season, she even launched a limited-edition selection of dandyish men’s shoes. As for the aesthetic of her vegetable-tanned leather kicks, Scott laughs that it comes from the fact that she’s always dressed “a little bit like a boy.” And her shoes’ hand-done details are the influence of her grandfather. “He’s Italian and he had all of his shoes handmade. So that element is really an ode to him.”
