EXCLUSIVE: Roland Mouret, Proponent of Color Therapy, Collaborates With Woolmark-------
Roland Mouret is heading Down Under. After recently teaming up with Banana Republic to launch a well-priced collection of classic workwear, the London-based designer is collaborating with The Woolmark Company on a capsule of eight pieces made entirely of Australian merino wool. The collection will be sold exclusively at Myer and online at the designer’s relaunched website, rolandmouret.com.
Known for his expert draping techniques and bold use of color, Mouret employed bright hues like cobalt, fluorescent pink, tangerine, and aqua for the wool dresses, pants, and blouses. A first look at the collection, modeled by Australian blogger Nicole Warne, debuts exclusively here. “I wanted to experiment with bright colors, color-blocking, and a clash of colors,” Mouret told Style.com. “I am a strong believer in color therapy, in that colors can dictate a mood or atmosphere. The pinks, yellows, and oranges reference the sun reflecting on a place, with the blues and greens reminiscent of the shadows it creates.”
The collection wasn’t too far of a stretch for Mouret, who has been embracing wool for years. “I’ve been working with merino wool for a long time,” he said. “It drapes, folds, and takes on color in a way that no other fabric can. Working with Woolmark and Myer on this collection made complete sense to me, and I love the way it has turned out.”
