May 9, 2012  11:29 am

Last night’s hot ticket was Tom Ford’s talk at New York’s 92nd Street Y, where the outspoken designer sounded off on fashion, film, and the lessons he’s picked up from the industry. Those awaiting his next film will have to wait a few years while he focuses on ready-to-wear, and those looking for a job, polish up your conversation. While on stage, Tom Ford (pictured) said former Gucci creative director Dawn Mello taught him to “only hire people you want to have dinner with.” [@fashionologie]

One more fashion brand is taking it to the streets. Jimmy Choo is launching its own Web site, Choo 24:7 Stylemakers, on which visitors can share tagged photos of themselves in their Jimmys. They’ll keep company with street-style shots by photographer Eddie—a.k.a. Mr. Newton—of editors and celebrities the footwear label has tapped as ambassadors, including Caroline Issa and Jessica Joffe. [WWD]

The dust is settling for Linda Evangelista and François-Henri Pinault. The pair agreed on child support terms for their 6-year-old son yesterday, and will return to court today to approve the details. As it turns out, it takes more than a tense day in court to keep Linda from the Met. [WWD]

Speaking of the Met, it wasn’t the only game in town last night. While the fashion set descended on the museum for the Costume Institute Gala (the “East Coast Oscars”), the James Beard Foundation Awards (the “Oscars of the food world”) were taking place across town. Big winners included Momofuku Milk Bar’s Christina Tosi and Daniel Humm, who won the outstanding chef award for his work at New York’s Eleven Madison Park. [Huff Po]

What would he wear if he found a last-minute invite? “An amalgamation of harnesses, cutouts, and metallics…with the theme of, like, an underwater Chanel-y sea bride. Like if Ariel was alive today and friends with Karl, but more nouveau.” [WWD]

Early Morning Rebel took London by storm last fashion week, playing several shows and parties and earning a fan base that includes Zandra Rhodes and designer Francesca Marotta. They’re in talks to return to London fashion week next season, but in the meantime, the L.A.-based band plays a free show tonight at New York’s Soho House. [EMR]

Kanye West’s $6,000 hoof heels aren’t the only items from his clothing collection to make their way into an actual store; Colette is now carrying his gold “Yeezy” necklace, too, the one he wore during his Givenchy-clad appearance (pictured) at Occupy Wall Street. [Rolling Stone]

Those minimum-age requirements for runway models (and now, Vogue models) don’t apply everywhere. Natalia Vodianova’s 6-year-old daughter, Neva Vodianova Portman, is making her modeling debut, showing off a dress in an ad campaign from children’s line Caramel to support her mom’s Naked Heart Foundation charity. During an interview with the team at Opening Ceremony, he admitted, “I don’t consider myself a rock star but I take advice from them. Mick Jagger once told me, ‘Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.’ ” Wise words. [OC Blog]
