Over the past year, Eddie Borgo has become one of New York’s jewelry design darlings. To wit, his neo-punk chic cone bracelet was the accessory for editors to be sporting during fashion week. Like many young American designers, Borgo headed this week to Paris for sales appointments—and yes, some shopping and parties. Here’s what Eddie did yesterday.

8:50 a.m. Wake up. Cappuccino! Yesterday was great. Ikram Goldman, Sally Singer, and Mark Holgate all came by.
10:00 a.m. Photographer Thierry Chomel arrives to shoot the collection for WWD. I met him last season; it was so nice to catch up.
11:15 a.m. Lauren Santo Domingo and Derek Blasberg arrive to choose pieces for Lauren for an Interview shoot. Keegan (Singh, Borgo’s boyfriend) says hello in his pink bathrobe. Lauren loves the pointed floral quartz earrings and wears a necklace out.
12:30 p.m. Jump in a taxi and head to St. Germain for lunch with designer Jen Kao at Brasserie Lipp. We sit next to Vogue Italia‘s Franca Sozzani. I didn’t have the nerve to ask for a photo. She’s so beautiful! Continue Reading “A Day In The Life Of: Eddie Borgo, Jewelry Designer” »
It was Alber Elbaz who discovered Aminata Niaria almost three years ago. Now, the Senegalese beauty is something of a Paris darling. We asked her to chronicle her packed day of racing around to castings, shows, and, of course, parties. Here’s what Aminata did yesterday.

8:40 a.m. I’m en route to my first show, Hiroko Koshino. I have a nice, brisk walk there to wake me up!
9 a.m. I arrive at the Carrousel du Louvre. I am lucky enough to get a mani-pedi and a massage backstage before the show. Great start to the day!
10:30 a.m. I go into hair and makeup, which I love. Phophie Mathias is doing my makeup. Very cool.
1:05 p.m. The show is up! I have to run off to my fitting at Véronique Leroy at 2 p.m.
1:30 p.m. I arrive a half hour ahead of my scheduled fitting, hoping they can take me early so I can get everything done today. Fingers crossed I won’t have to wait…
3:25 p.m. Arrive for my Stella McCartney casting with James Scully, who is working on the show. It took forever to get here! You can definitely tell it’s fashion week in Paris. There’s so much traffic, people, and action!
4 p.m. Out of the casting with a lot of missed calls from IMG! I’ve got to run run run to Rick Owens!
4:20 p.m. Arrive at Les Beaux-Arts de Paris and head straight into show rehearsal. Then on to makeup, which is a really clean and sharp look. I love it and will get some tips on how to do it myself.
5:30 p.m. Retouching and some backstage photos. I see Rick Owens and we have a photo together! His work is very strong and captivating—I just love it.
6:10 p.m. The show has just finished a bit late and I’m running behind for the next. I’m off to A.F. Vandevorst. Got to run to the Musée de l’Homme!
8 p.m. Leaving A.F. Vandervorst for a quick fitting at Issey Miyake.
10 p.m. I run home for a quick change so I can stop by the Vogue Covers 1920-2009 soirée at the Hôtel de Crillon. I wear a BCBG Max Azria dress and grab a Swarovski clutch.
10:30 p.m. Arrive at the party fashionably late. I am very excited to speak with some of the people who I meet briefly in castings—Carine Roitfeld, Patti Wilson. There are so many wonderful personalities here. Unfortunately I can’t stay long. I have a 7 a.m. call time for Issey Miyake.
11:10 p.m. Turning the lights out. My day is finished. Off to get some beauty sleep for tomorrow is a new day! Au revoir!
