From Beach To Street, Swimsuits Make the Ready-to-Wear Crossover

-------

Now TrendingThe lines between swim and ready-to-wear are blurrier than ever these days. This season, we’ve witnessed tastemakers replacing still-happening crop tops with functional yet stylish suits meant to be worn at the beach and off of it. Swapping out your underwear for your bikini isn’t necessarily new—particularly if you’ve ever been a few days behind on laundry—but designers are now emphasizing underpinnings as a key part of the total look. Resort found the likes of Rosetta Getty and Fendi’s Karl Lagerfeld layering triangle tops under silk shirtdresses and mesh vests, while high-waisted briefs turned up at Louis Vuitton, Mary Katrantzou, and Agnona. Sporty bandeaus, meanwhile, proved to be popular among the likes of Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung, and Preen.

Here, a slideshow of swimsuits making the ready-to-wear crossover.

Agnona Gets a New CEO

-------

AgnonaAgnona, Ermenegildo Zegna’s luxury womenswear range helmed by Stefano Pilati, is getting a new CEO. Come May, Alessandra Carra will leave her post as the CEO of LVMH-owned house Emilio Pucci to take the reins at Agnona. The current CEO, Bruno Laguardia, will join Agnona’s board of directors and will reportedly support Carra as an adviser. This move is further proof that, following the appointment of Pilati in 2013, the Zegna Group is serious about expanding and heightening the profile of the Agnona range.

Achtung-Mode Baby

-------

Achtung-ModeAchtung-Mode—Germany’s pioneering indie fashion and culture magazine—is debuting its Bauhaus-themed tenth anniversary issue tomorrow. And to celebrate the decade milestone, founder Markus Ebner decided he wanted to offer up a little something special. “When magazines turn ten, or twenty, or whatever, there’s not that much you can do,” he told Style.com. “I mean, you can do ten covers, you can ask designers to write letters saying, ‘Dear Whoever, Happy Tenth Anniversary!’, but I wanted to do something not like that.” His answer? A capsule collection of ten special-edition items crafted—and photographed—by some of the most exciting German, Austrian, and Swiss brands and talents. For instance, there’s a luxe leather bag by Akris (snapped by Sandra Semburg), a suit by Regent that was handmade in Germany (shot by Michael Mann, below, left), a crisp white shirt by the legendary Jil Sander (lensed by Mary Scherpe, below, right), an amulet by Tomas Maier (shot by Oliver Helbig), a parka by Kostas Murkudis (captured by Jork Weismann) and some cashmere Agnona socks by honorary German, Stefano Pilati (photographed in a field by Debora Mittelstaedt). “He’s been living in Berlin for the last year and a half, and he’s such an important designer, and he’s opening a studio there and hiring people, so that’s exciting for us,” offered Ebner.

The items will be available at Andreas Murkudis’ Berlin concept store, which Ebner describes as the “Colette of Germany.” As for the editorial photographs of the anniversary merch, they’ll not only be included in the new issue, but displayed alongside their corresponding products Murkudis’ store. If you’re lusting over these creations, you’d better scoot to Berlin quickly as quantities are limited. Fittingly, only ten editions of each product were produced.

Stefano Pilati Lands At Zegna

-------

Stefano Pilati’s is indeed headed to one of Milan’s fashion giants—just not the one that had been rumored. Ermenegildo Zegna announced this morning that the former YSL designer, who exited the house after his Fall ’12 collections, has been appointed head of design at menswear stalwart Ermenegildo Zegna (where he’ll also work on the Ermenegildo Zegna Couture collection). He’ll also be charged with growing Zegna’s womenswear label, Agnona, where he will serve as creative director as well. The appointments are effective as of the first of the new year.
