The Tuesday Night After-Party Chronicles, Part II

When the smoke cleared yesterday, the Rodarte girls had some serious celebrating to do at Grotto, the subterranean hangout on the Lower East Side where they threw their after-party. Anouck Lepère, Justin Bond, and Michelle Obama fashion adviser Ikram Goldman negotiated their way through the bar’s narrow corridors to lounge in the backyard. Back inside, a dance party took shape. Kirsten Dunst was bopping to “The Time of My Life,” and Jason Schwartzman was getting out of character. “I don’t really go out to places where you can’t hear people talking, so this is very bizarre,” the actor mused. “I love this song, obviously.”

Blasblog From Venice: This Town Really Is Romantic

It happened about midday yesterday: I looked away from my computer and out the window on a sun-drenched palazzo and remembered I was actually in Venice, one of the most unique and inspiring cities in all of the world. (With all the fashion talk and the familiar fashion faces in town, it was easy to forget.) Closing laptops and taking strolls seemed to be on the top of everyone’s lists: Jefferson Hack and Anouck Lepère hit up the Peggy Guggenheim Collection when it reopened after Karl Lagerfeld and Lady Amanda Harlech took it over for a fashion shoot. But the real scene was at the pool at the Cipriani Hotel on Giudecca Island, just a quick boat ride from the Piazza San Marco. There Caroline Sieber and her boyfriend, Fritz von Westenholz, took lunch by the rose garden, Francesco Vezzoli swam laps, and Chanel CEO Maureen Chiquet took meetings in a swimsuit (which seemed like a great idea until the Times‘ Stefano Tonchi, fresh from a dip in the pool, started getting water everywhere). “This is like a whole other Venice,” Sieber told me. She was right: The shopping and sightseeing is good in town, but that pool was the perfect place to escape. At sunset, though, when Lagerfeld’s Resort collection hit the Lido boardwalk, no one would have wanted to be anywhere else. Click here for pictures from the after-party.
