On Our Radar: Hudson’s Photoreal Jeans

“Prints are everywhere, so we wanted to find a new technique that would allow us to be more aspirational and forward,” Hudson creative director Ben Taverniti told Enter the label’s new Photoreal range of digitally printed denim that Taverniti and his team like to think of as more of a treatment than a print. The jeans feature vibrant patterns that are actually photos that have been manipulated in Photoshop to look like a wash. There’s a variety of styles, including a magenta and pale blue ombré floral, a tropical forest landscape (taken by Taverniti’s mom), and a busy London-at-night scene, snapped by Taverniti himself. “We always try to have something from the U.K. in the collection,” said Taverniti. “It’s a good way to keep the roots of the company in mind.” As for the future of Photoreal denim, Taverniti is already working on some new variations for Fall. But for now, the Spring collection ($218) will be available at on February 28.

Georgia May Jagger Stretches Out

It was near pandemonium last night at Paris’ tony emporium Montaigne Market as a crowd gathered to await the arrival of Georgia May Jagger. The rock scion signed on as the égérie of Hudson jeans, and eventually got so comfortable with the brand that she made a new request: that she be given the design reins for her own capsule collection. Ben Taverniti, Hudson’s young French designer, agreed. Voilà, Hudson by Georgia May Jagger, with ten styles, most of them skintight and one lacing sexily up the sides. At Montaigne Market, they were in good company: The pairs were shown styled with jackets from Balmain, Stella McCartney, and Alaïa. “They approached me and the first thing I thought was that I’d really like a pair of jeans that fits perfectly,” Jagger explained. “So Ben and I worked with different stretch qualities and high rises and I think we’ve got it just right.” It’s her first foray into the world of design, and to hear the 19-year-old model and sometime face of Chanel tell it, it won’t be the last. But it’s far from the only thing on her plate. Jagger mentioned she’s gone on a few auditions lately, that is, when she’s not in class—she’s currently living in New York and attending the School of Visual Arts.
