Paris Fashion Week Model Photo Diary: Lara Mullen

It’s been a whirlwind year for Brit model Lara Mullen, who had never walked in a pair of heels before she was discovered by Premier model agency at a music festival in her hometown of Northampton just weeks before her smashing debut at the Spring shows back in September. Flash-forward a few months, and now the 17-year-old has rubbed elbows with Gisele, starred in ad campaigns for Maje and Topshop, covered recent issues of i-D and Dazed & Confused, and has an editorial shot by Josh Olins in the latest British Vogue. Fall proved to be a killer sophomore season for Mullen, who walked the top-tier runways, including Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Prada, and Calvin Klein. With the help of her agents, Mullen kept track of her Paris fashion week experiences for Check out her snaps from the week, below.

“I’ve just arrived in Paris, and my lovely chaperone Julie, who showed me all of the sights in the city, took a snap of me waiting for the Métro. I really love the contrast of the black-and-white picture behind me with the colorful seats. Shame she missed the bubble I was about to blow with my gum!”

“In full hair and makeup after Dries Van Noten, en route to the next show. I’m wearing a tweed Marc Jacobs jacket with a scalloped detail that I was given after his show this season.”

“With the girls [Katlin Aas, Marte Mei van Haaster, and Maria Bradley] backstage at Gareth Pugh! I felt fierce walking at that show.”

“What I enjoy most about the shows is seeing the endless hair and makeup possibilities. Here I am backstage at Nina Ricci, embracing my inner screen siren!”

Donatella On Riccardo, The New Faces
Of Cacharel, LVMH Opens Up, And More…

Donatella Versace wants to know—along with the rest of the world—will Riccardo Tisci (left) do Dior? She asks the Givenchy designer the burning question in conversation for the new Interview. Alas, Tisci doesn’t give her the scoop, but he does open up about his current music obsession, Nicki Minaj, as well as old favorites like Missy Elliott, Ciara, and Lil’ Kim. [Interview]

Book your reservations now: Luxury giant LVMH is opening its kitchens to the public in October on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have ever wondered how your favorite Dior perfume or Glenmorangie single-malt whiskey is made, now is your chance to take a tour of the European distilleries, vineyards, and couture houses of LVMH. 16-year-old Molly Smith is going to have to take a break from playing football and Grand Theft Auto for the time being because she’s the newly announced star of Burberry. The Derbyshire native, who started modeling two years ago after being discovered during a Covent Garden shopping trip, will be appearing in the brand’s upcoming Fall 2011 campaign, shot by Mario Testino. There is a new sun rising at Cacharel. Dawei Sun and his Belle Ninon co-designer, Ling Liu, have been tapped as the new artistic directors for the French brand’s women’s, men’s, children’s, and accessories collections. [WWD]

From now on, it’s just Chalayan. In an effort to tighten up his brand identity, designer Hussein Chalayan has shortened his label’s name. His new name might be trimmed down, but he’s expanding, too. He is launching a lower-priced collection of signature pieces, called Grey Label, set to hit stores in September. [Hussein Chalayan]

Cédric Charlier Is Out At Cacharel, Liz’s White Diamonds Will Hit The Block, Lucy Gets A New Disguise, And More…

Alas, it’s au revoir to Cédric Charlier (left): Cacharel and its designer are parting ways. Charlier is only the latest in a line of designer departures that has included Milan Vukmirovic at Trussardi 1911, Vanessa Seward at Azzaro, Clare Waight Keller at Pringle of Scotland, and, of course, John Galliano at Dior. [WWD]

The late, great Liz Taylor had a legendary love of diamonds—even naming her fragrance White Diamonds—and over the course of her lifetime, she racked up a ton of them. Now, sources say her collection will hit the auction block at Christie’s (though whether or not they’ll raise money for the charities she championed, as was predicted during her lifetime, remains unknown). Pop-starlet-turned-vintage-shopkeeper Lily Allen is extending her reach yet further: She and her sister, Sarah Owen, are debuting a new label, Lucy in Disguise, this June. Oasis creative director Nadia Dunhill will collaborate with Allen and Owen on the designs for the fledgling collection. [Vogue U.K.]

Must-Sees In Milan

Milan fashion week is officially under way. The party of the week (make that party of the season) is next Monday’s celebration for Extreme Beauty in Vogue, an exhibition opening March 2 at the Palazzo della Ragione. The mayor of Milan will be there, not to mention co-hosts Anna Wintour, Domenico Dolce, and Stefano Gabbana. And we’re willing to bet Scarlett Johanssen (Dolce & Gabbana‘s latest campaign face) and a number of her celebrity cohorts won’t miss it either. Check back here Monday for a preview of images from the exhibit—Meisel, Leibovitz, Penn, Avedon…now you understand why the beauty’s extreme. In the meantime, here are a few of our favorite Milan diversions to keep you busy.
