February’s set to bring out whole new sides of Chado’s Ralph Rucci. The couturier (one of the only Americans ever to show at Paris Couture) is the subject of a new coffee-table book celebrating his 30 years in business and a new documentary film, to be screened at New York fashion week, by director and former curator Christian Leigh. “If he wants to work on one dress for 16 weeks, he won’t compromise,” Leigh said of his tireless subject. The Wall Street Journal takes on the phenomenon of pre-fall, which is gaining ground in celebrity dressing. Attention, celebs and stylists: We’ve got it all right here. [WSJ]
Is there about to be a Prince of Leon? Sources say that Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill and his wife, model Lily Aldridge, are expecting their first child—and that she’s three months along, meaning she would have walked the Victoria’s Secret runway show pregnant. [E!]
If the Lady’s a tramp, she’s an expensive one. A nude sketch of one Lady Gaga (above) by Tony Bennett (her duet partner on a new version of “The Lady Is a Tramp”) sold for $30,000 on eBay, as part of Vanity Fair‘s auction of items from its January 2012 issue. The entire sale raised $46,261 for Exploring the Arts and Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation. [Vanity Fair]
Is Naomi Campbell set to help Kate Moss down the aisle? In a new interview (with, admittedly, one of the U.K.’s most incorrigible tabloids), the supe won’t say she’s Kate’s bridesmaid—but she won’t say she’s not, either. Developing! [Vogue U.K.]
And speaking of weddings, model Lily Aldridge and Kings of Leon rocker Caleb Followill tied the knot last week. In case you missed it on Friday, here’s Lily’s custom Vera Wang gown. [@Styledotcom]
Jane Pratt—the eponymous Jane behind Jane and the founder of the much-beloved Sassy magazine—is back with a new Web site: xoJane.com. What’s in: Pepto-Bismol facials, nude bodysuits try-outs, and her usual blend of grabby headlines and measured snark. What’s out: Internet phenom Tavi, who was reportedly involved at an earlier stage in the site’s development. [xoJane.com]
The latest of SHOWstudio’s fashion films is now online. Ruth Hogben—the longtime SHOWstudio collaborator who’s made memorable films for the likes of Gareth Pugh—takes on Giles Deacon’s Fall ’11 Feral Lace collection for the house of Ungaro, with an assist from Katie Grand. [SHOWstudio]
Apparently, when Oprah calls, “no” is not an option. In the final days of her closing season, Winfrey will interview Ralph Lauren—despite the fact that he hasn’t given a TV interview in 20 years. [WWD]
Spring is usually the season for long white dresses. So why all the ivory gowns on the Fall runways? We’re chalking it up to royal wedding fever. It’s just over two weeks until Kate Middleton walks down the aisle, and while it isn’t likely that Prince William’s betrothed will do it in any of these dresses (she seems poised to follow in time-honored royal footsteps and choose something more conservative), there are other high-profile, fashion-loving brides tying the knot later this year. Kate Moss and Lily Aldridge are marrying their musician boyfriends Jamie Hince and Caleb Followill, respectively, and we could see those catwalkers rocking one of these frocks. You? Sad news for shoehounds: The latest designer departure is Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison, who announced today that they are parting ways with their eponymous footwear brand, Sigerson Morrison. [WWD]
Happier news comes courtesy of model Lily Aldridge (left), who confirmed that she’ll marry her boyfriend, Kings of Leon front man Caleb Followill, in May. [Page Six]
Speaking of weddings, Reese Witherspoon just had hers this weekend: The bride married CAA agent Jim Toth at her ranch in Ojai, wearing—as expected—custom Monique Lhuillier. [Us]
And the Times wants to know: What’s up with all these fashion ambassadors, anyway? [NYT]
