While many of us were enjoying a soggy, cold, miserable early spring weekend, Cara Delevingne and her movie star coconspirator, Michelle Rodriguez, were in Tulum, Mexico, snorkeling, hanging out with awesome turtles, riding horses, swimming topless, and making out. Then they went to Miami to party at the Ultra Music Festival. In other words: Best. Spring break. Ever.
The amount of media attention surrounding this couple and the ridiculous “Are they, are they not?” dating speculation—and subsequent “It’s official!” faux announcements every time they’re seen being very obviously intimate with each other in public—always overlooks one very important detail: These two are having a blast. But also, yes, there seems to have been a lot of partially nude making out in Mexico, so they are totally doing it.
When you think Paris fashion week, H&M isn’t necessarily the first thing that comes to mind—however, that may be about to change. Today, WWD reports that the high street retailer, who held its first star-studded party and runway romp for its elevated H&M Studio range during PFW last February, is coming back for round two. The Fall ’14 event will be hosted at a yet-to-be-disclosed venue on February 26. Judging by the Fall ’13 event, which featured the likes of Cara Delevingne, Joan Smalls, and Lindsey Wixson on the catwalk, and Ashley Olsen, Carine Roitfeld, and Chloë Moretz in the front row, it seems H&M’s February showing is poised to become a fashion week favorite.
Kate Spade may be a true New York brand, but for a month, at least, it’s going London. The company has turned a Georgian townhouse in Covent Garden into the Spade girl’s dream pad. The bags on which the brand got famous are all here, of course, but so too are lingerie and hosiery, fragrance, a capsule clothing line, jewellery, and bedding—even a few one-offs specifically for U.K. girls, like an enamel “London Calling” bracelet and a leather London bag. So why the U.K., why now? “We did what we call a restoration of the brand,” said Chief Creative Officer and President Deborah Lloyd, herself Brit. “After that was complete, we felt that the time was right to introduce or, shall I say, reintroduce Kate Spade to London. When we found this house, it all fell into place.”
Because no opening is complete without a party, last night brought in a host of cute young things. Leigh Lezark (left), Cara Delavigne (Poppy’s younger sister), VV Brown, and the Mark Ronson-produced girl band The Like (who performed) all showed up to check out the wares. They’ll have to act fast to grab any this time around, but the Spade brand has more permanent designs on London in the works. “We have scouted some locations and are close to signing something—expect our first London store in 2011″, Lloyd said, rushing back to New York to shoot the new ad campaign with Bryce Dallas Howard. “So it’s not adieu, just au revoir for now.” Or should that be ta?
