Here at Style.com, we’re already knee-deep in fashion month prep. In addition to seeing hundreds of new collections in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, we’re anticipating another impressive crop of street-style photos, which dictate how everyone will dress this fall. Until then, we’re still clicking through our favorite street-style moments from couture, Copenhagen fashion week, Montauk, and beyond. For Monday’s Look of the Day poll, we gathered our favorite bandanna looks of late, including Caroline Brasch Nielsen, who stepped out with a paisley Chanel bag outside the couture shows. Worn with a casual men’s shirt, it’s clear why she earned first place. Cleo Wade and Mia Moretti wore bold Moschino bandanna tops at Lollapalooza, and we’ve been trying to figure out a way to DIY them ever since. On Wednesday, we celebrated our favorite (and super-easy) beauty trend: the high, messy bun. Katie Holmes won your vote at the Life Is Amazing film event in New York, where she sported a soft bun, smoky eyeliner, and a dramatic one-shoulder top. Cara Delevingne was a close second: Paired with a gilded gown, her fluffy bun looked edgy and unexpected. What else was on our minds this week? Boyish trousers, Madonna’s greatest hits, and so much more. See all of the week’s winners here.
Some would argue that Kate Moss’ career was hottest in the ’90s, but if her paychecks are any indication, the model is now bigger than ever. According to The Telegraph, this year has been Moss’ most lucrative to date. In the last 12 months, her business assets rose from £11 million to £17 million, bringing her net worth to £55 million (or about $92 million). Her two companies, Tilly Church Ltd and Skate LLP, both saw significant increases between October 2012 and October 2013, roughly totaling £5 million.
Moss’ success this year can also be attributed to dozens of global magazine covers and advertising campaigns, like the ones for Kérastase, David Yurman, and Stella McCartney (which is included in our Best of Fall ’14 campaigns feature today). Other additions to Moss’ endless portfolio? A Playboy editorial for the magazine’s 60th anniversary; her ongoing contract with Rimmel London; a relaunched collaboration with Topshop; and the Burberry fragrance campaign, which she fronts alongside Cara Delevingne. Timeless is an understatement. Moss’ fortune is expected to rise even more before 2015.
With fashion week but a month away, summer is drawing to a close for Style.com. That being said, we’re embracing the sunshine as much as possible before NYFW, namely with our Look of the Day polls. This week, we asked you to vote on your favorite minidresses, beachy braids, and even skateboards—things we will surely miss when the chill settles in. On Tuesday, we focused on feminine lace dresses in super-bright hues. Dior’s nearly-neon citrus frocks won your vote, while Elle Fanning’s embroidered orange Christopher Kane dress was a close second. Coming in third was Valentino’s striped number from Resort ’15, which would be perfect for a last-minute jaunt to Spain.
On Wednesday, we rounded up the coolest beat-the-heat summer braids. Amber Heard’s one-sided plait (which also showed off a glittering chandelier earring) won your vote and likely inspired hundreds of DIY versions. Rita Ora got in on the action with rainbow-dyed cornrows at Radio 1′s Big Weekend back in May, and Diane Kruger wore an intriguing double-braid to the premiere of The Birdge. On Friday, we found enough cool skateboarding pictures to make you reconsider your morning commute. Cara Delevingne, Binx Walton, and just about every guy on the Venice Boardwalk definitely know how to ride in style. Click here for all of the week’s winners, plus a few runners-up for additional summer inspo.
Come December, Allison Williams of Girls fame will put on her green tights to play Peter Pan in NBC’s live rendition of the classic musical. The actress, who will finally get to show off her pipes in a manner that doesn’t make her look ridiculous (flashback to that time Marnie drunkenly serenaded her ex with some a cappella Kanye West), will be joined by Christopher Walken, set to play Captain Hook. This production is not to be confused with the forthcoming Peter Pan film whose cast includes Cara Delevingne, Rooney Mara, Amanda Seyfried, and Hugh Jackman. (Pan is having a real moment, it would seem.) According to a statement, the show’s producers felt Williams was a good fit because of her wit, her warmth, her musical abilities, and her “dynamic flying.” We’re not 100 percent sure what that means, but we look forward to seeing it.
