The End of an Era in French Fashion

-------

International Herald Tribune Heritage Luxury Conference - Day 2French fashion’s governing body has a new leader: Ralph Toledano, who currently serves as president of Puig’s fashion division and the acting head of the Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode. Toledano has been named the new president of the Fédération Française de la Couture, du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode, replacing Didier Grumbach. The news comes as no surprise—Grumbach, who has held the position since 1998 and been a powerful force in the industry for decades, has been planning his exit for more than two years. Grumbach, who is known for cofounding Saint Laurent Rive Gauche and helping to establish Givenchy, will officially hand over the reins to Toledano in September. Toledano will be joined by Hermès veteran Stéphane Wargnier, who has been named the executive president.
