While scrolling through our latest crop of Tommy Ton street-style photos, we found a range of new trends to try, from minimalist suits to basketball shorts to our current favorite look: hyper-vivid color combinations. We saw clashing patterns, three shades of neon, and interesting new fabrics—and that was all on one outfit. It’s inspiring us to think outside the black-and-white box and incorporate a few more pops of color into our wardrobes. Even one pair of standout shoes gives your go-to jeans a playful lift. Or do as the editors do and wear the entire Roy G. Biv spectrum. Either way, our approach to summer dressing just got a whole lot livelier. In case you weren’t already aware, Charlotte Olympia is our go-to brand for playful, whimsical, festive accessories. Do we really need those heart-appliquéd pumps for next Valentine’s Day? Absolutely. And for our upcoming summer barbecues, the new peach minaudière will do quite nicely. For those of us who still need a reason to watch the World Cup, designer Charlotte Dellal’s new capsule collection is a total game-changer. Launching on July 4, the special-edition Hat Trick Pandora clutches consist of classic Lucite boxes and satin inserts printed with team flags. Whether you’re rooting for the USA, Argentina, or Brazil, these bags are a luxe alternative to fan-girl jerseys and face paint. “I am half-Brazilian and have three small boys, so I wanted to create this fun and feminine collection to celebrate Brazil hosting the World Cup,” Dellal said of the range, which debuts exclusively here. Even the trademark spider closure is hand-painted to look like a soccer ball. Priced at $1,195, the Hat Trick Pandora clutches will be available at Charlotte Olympia stores in New York, London, Beverly Hills, and Miami.
Minimalism is still the move this summer, but we’re happy to see designers getting a little more playful. Where’s the fun in wearing a crisp all-white ensemble if you can’t throw in a crazy clutch? Particularly one shaped like a turquoise eye. In fact, we’ve noted a lot of eye motifs lately, from Kenzo’s beloved Eye of Horus to cartoonish, graphic designs. A delicate necklace or pair of earrings can inject any outfit with some subtle surreal spirit, but the notion of wearing giant green eyes on our toes is almost too fun to pass up. While she’s best known for her sky-high platforms, trompe l’oeil accessories, and whimsical color combinations, Charlotte Dellal dialed things back with her latest offering for Charlotte Olympia. The new shoes are even appropriate for the office (and we don’t just mean a fashion office), which explains the new range’s title, 9 Till 5. Leather and suede single-sole silhouettes have lower heel heights, ranging from 55 mm to 90 mm, and a mostly neutral palette of black, burgundy, and taupe (with a few pops of color for good measure). “As a working mother of three, I understand the importance of ease whilst at work, and the playful hints of PVC, fuchsia, and leopard allow you to do this with style,” Dellal told Style.com.
Each pair of shoes comes with matching colored stockings and a briefcase-inspired shoebox to stow under your desk. But we had to ask: Will Dellal actually wear any of these styles? “Personally, I wear super high-heeled platforms, flats, and everything in between. You can really determine your day by the shoes you choose to wear,” she said. “If I’m feeling particularly glamorous, I’ll reach for my most flamboyant platforms, but if it’s a day of work meetings, I’ll be wearing my leopard block heels. And for a day out with my three boys, my Kitty flats are perfect to run around in.”
