Canadian stunner Coco Rocha is once again the face of Longchamp’s Fall 2012 ad campaign, alongside up-and-coming model Emily DiDonato. For the campaign (pictured, below), lensed by photographer Max Vadukul, the two paraded around Paris carrying the label’s new LM Cuir line bags and wearing the brand’s Fall fur-trimmed leather coats. Here, get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look on set (pictured, above), where Rocha and DiDonato found themselves riding a tandem bike around the Place Dauphine and performing the Charleston near the Pont Neuf. Less than a month after the event, the designer has tapped Rocha as the face of his Fall collection, explaining that he “fell in love with” the model and the pantsuit she was wearing—a purchase made at the Elizabeth Taylor auction. The new creative director of Yves Saint Laurent has decided to make his studio in L.A., where he relocated in 2007 after leaving Dior Homme, his home base. Emma Watson and Rihanna were spotted in New Orleans on the set of their new film, The End of the World, a Seth Rogan-directed comedy set for release in 2013. The ladies star alongside James Franco, Jonah Hill, and Jason Segel, who (in the film) all attend a party at Franco’s house when the apocalypse strikes. We wouldn’t mind an invite to that shindig. “For too long, the modeling industry has been like the Wild West,” said Coco Rocha at last night’s launch party for the Model Alliance, a new nonprofit group organized by models, for models. Top models including Doutzen Kroes, Crystal Renn, Missy Rayder, and Ajak Deng stopped by the Standard Hotel to toast the cause. The Alliance started as an idea established by model Sara Ziff (the filmmaker behind the revealing documentary Picture Me), explored in a paper she wrote while studying community organizing at Columbia University. Ziff, who at 29 has now been modeling half her life, understands firsthand how young girls are often mistreated in an industry without real labor regulations. For example, catwalkers often begin working in their mid-teens, and many never get the chance to finish high school. They can go through an entire day of walking back-to-back runway shows without actually making any money, getting paid in “trade” (a.k.a. designer clothes) instead. And, there are still a great deal of complaints about backstage photographers taking unauthorized pictures of the girls changing. Typically, the models don’t speak up about these inequities because they know they’re highly replaceable. “Most models’ clout is as tiny as our size zero frames,” Ziff told Style.com. So she teamed up with former model and current fashion writer Jenna Sauers to give these girls a voice, and developed the Alliance along with the support of the CFDA and the new Fashion Law Institute at Fordham Law School. “Having experienced the highs and lows of this industry, I am ultra-excited about this,” said Rocha. “But we’ve still got a long way to go.”
“I went to see the collection three nights ago and was literally slack-jawed the whole way through,” Coco Rocha told Style.com at Christie’s New York last night before bidding on Elizabeth Taylor’s couture collection kicked off. “I love the fact that pieces were not hand-picked by some stylist for her—this was her personal taste, her collection.”

After Tuesday night’s jewelry auction, which brought in a record-breaking $115 million, the mood in the auction room on the second floor was tense last night in anticipation of how the Versace bolero jackets and Dior gowns would sell. They did not disappoint—sales of the couture clothes soared to a total of $2.6 million last night.
Minutes after 7 p.m., Christie’s Los Angeles president Andrea Fiuczynski took her place on the stand and readied her gavel, despite the relatively empty auction room (for the most part, buyers were bidding on the phone and online). After Christie’s CEO Marc Porter made the surprise announcement that the famed Irene Sharaff yellow silk chiffon wedding dress from Taylor’s first marriage to Richard Burton is being donated to a major American museum (the specific one has not been revealed), bidding began.
