Plenty of ink has been spilled about the “Manolo moment,” during which the fashion world has turned its attention back to the pump—and with it, to one of the pump’s sturdiest champions, Manolo Blahnik. Now Lane Crawford is taking its turn to celebrate the legendary footwear designer. The store invited Blahnik to collaborate with a handful of heritage brands to create limited-edition items available only at LC and through its Web site, LaneCrawford.com. The participants range from the century-old glovemakers Causse Gantier, who worked with Blahnik on five styles of leather gloves, and the English trunkmakers Globe-Trotter, who offered a striped luggage collection, to New York’s Connor, who created stationery with Blahnik’s illustrations. Above and below, Style.com has an exclusive look at a few selected pieces on offer, alongside Blahnik’s sketches for the collections. And as well as creating the new, he’ll be toasting the old: ten styles from the Blahnik archive dating back to 1974 will be re-released, including the Piaggi sandal and the mesh lace-up stiletto booties at bottom.
In the age of smartphones and iPads, it seems most people have turned their calendars into an entirely digital affair. Yet, there’s something to be said for having an actual—not virtual—agenda to look at in your home or at the office. And hey, if the annual buzz that surrounds the Pirelli calendar is any indication, then paper versions are still very much alive. If you didn’t happen to get your hands on Mario Sorrenti’s project for Pirelli, or if your prefer a more PG option for your kitchen, we’ve scoped out a few chic alternatives to pick up before January 1. See our picks (above), including the A.P.C. five-year calendar (on sale already because 2011 is over) and a chic hand-stamped octopus calendar from Connor.

I love candles, don’t get me wrong, but there aren’t enough hours in a year to burn my extensive collection. I have a feeling my friends are in the same position, having received one too many little boxes from Diptyque or Jo Malone from house guests. Looking for a new idea for a hostess gift, I came across Connor’s Le Petits Notecards on a market appointment at Connor in the Plaza Hotel. Every card they sell is hand-stamped in France, so each one has a unique detail that makes it special. You can order personal stationery, holiday cards, thank-you notes; the list goes on. Les Petits Notecards is a set of three hand-stamped cards with matching envelopes, enlivened by Connor’s quirky motifs (skulls and handcuffs, for example). What a sweet alternative for a hostess gift.
