For thirty years running, the Elite Model Look competition has given aspiring mannequins a chance to break into the industry. Past participants who beat out hundreds of thousands of beautiful people from more than sixty countries and went on to make it big include Gisele Bündchen, Isabeli Fontana, Constance Jablonski, Sigrid Agren, Dorothea Barth Jorgensen, Fei Fei Sun, and Cora Emmanuel, to name a few. After narrowing down this year’s U.K.-based contestants to eleven girls and eleven boys, the mega modeling agency’s London branch invited the finalists to attend a four-day boot camp, during which they received catwalk and posing training, confidence coaching, nutrition and fitness advice, styling tips, and—most important—met the bookers. Style.com asked Elite Model Look Process’s Amelia Trevette (formerly the head of image and special bookings for Elite London), who was judging and mentoring the fresh faces throughout the week, to call out her seven favorites. Learn all about the top up-and-comers and this year’s U.K. winners—May and Ruth Bell, and Ross Trevillion (above)—who will go on to compete in the international finals this November, below.
May and Ruth Bell (competing together):
“May and Ruth, our ethereal twins from Dover, are like porcelain dolls: flawless skin, ash-blond hair, and delicate features. They look almost otherworldly and are captivating both on the catwalk and in front of the camera.”
“Ross has an amazing look that is diverse enough to be commercial or editorial. At only sixteen, he has a maturity and presence that not a lot of his peers possess.” Continue Reading “Seven Fresh Faces From the Elite Model Look Boot Camp” »

When supermodel Doutzen Kroes saw the recent cover of Vogue China, she was surprised at what she saw. The magazine had photoshopped her image so that she looked as though she only had one leg. “I think photoshopping is OK until something like that happens,” she said. “You don’t want to lose one of your limbs.” Agreed. Taylor Swift just gave Lady Gaga a run for her money—literally. The country pop singer has taken reign as the highest-earning star under 30 years old, taking in an impressive $57 million. Gaga’s earnings dropped from $90 million to $52 million (still not too shabby), landing her the fourth spot on the list, along with Adele, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Kristen Stewart. [Vogue U.K.]
