They Went For The Gold, They Went In Gold
This summer’s athletic champions may have left London in August, but the city’s Olympic hangover lives on. Case in point, last night’s 58th London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, which, held in association with Burberry, bestowed the Beyond Theatre honor upon Danny Boyle for his eccentric opening ceremony extravaganza. Naturally, anyone who can convince the queen to parachute with James Bond and seamlessly assemble a show with Paul McCartney, somersaulting NHS patients, and an inflatable Lord Voldemort is deserving of recognition. Team Great Britain gold medalist Victoria Pendleton handed the director his award at the Savoy Theatre. But she wasn’t the only one keeping with the theme. Burberry favorite Jourdan Dunn, on hand to celebrate along with BFF Cara Delevingne, Mario Testino, and more, was a vision in (Olympic) gold. And though she’s second place to no one, Dame Judi Dench picked up her Golden Seagull award—for contributions to global theater—in silver.
