Hollywood’s Most Powerful Stylists Revealed
The results are in. Today, The Hollywood Reporter released its third annual list of Hollywood’s 25 Most Powerful Stylists. The winners include big names we’ve been hearing a lot about of late—Kate Young, who’s been whipping up a buzz with her new Target collection (and who styles Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, and Natalie Portman), came in at number four. Elizabeth Stewart, who chronicled her experience styling Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Chastain, Julia Roberts, and Cody Horn for the Golden Globes for Style.com, came in at number five. And Rachel Zoe, who styled Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence in their much-talked-about Oscar gowns, slid in at number three. Petra Flannery, who styles Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana, and Megan Fox, was this year’s runner-up. And the big winner is (drumroll, please) Leslie Fremar, who styles discerning stars like Julianne Moore, Charlize Theron, and Jennifer Connelly. A surprise on the list was designer (and Mick Jagger’s girlfriend) L’Wren Scott, who came in at number sixteen for dressing Nicole Kidman.

Hurricane Irene is barreling our way, which means we’ll be hunkered down in our apartments this weekend like the rest of New York City, our crazy surfer friends excluded. What better way to remember the summer that was than look back at some of its finer red-carpet moments? Our favorite shot of the season has got to be co-stars Emma Stone and Mila Kunis redefining the term Friends With Benefits in punch-colored Giambattista Valli and Lanvin, but we won’t soon forget the image of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in a see-through Gucci finale dress or Zoe Saldana giving her lamé Lanvin number a twirl, either.

Pret-A-Surf, KBL Team Up On A New Pair Of Celeb-Approved Shades
What do Blake Lively, January Jones, and Emma Stone (above) have in common? Plenty, upon consideration: blond hair, long legs, magazine covers, fiery hot acting careers…also: sunglasses. Lively, Jones, and Stone are just a few of the trendsetting celebs who have nabbed pairs of Pret-a-Surf‘s soon-to-debut sunglasses, made with the L.A.-based label KBL. The frames mark Pret-a-Surf’s first collaboration, and they pick up the red motif of the brand’s beachwear. “I’m sure you’ve noticed the red zipper on many of our looks,” points out Jillian Demling, who co-founded Pret-a-Surf with Karen Mulligan last year. According to Demling, both she and Mulligan have picked up multiple pairs of KBL sunglasses since the brand launched in 2007, and they immediately cottoned onto KBL cat-eyes as a fitting adjunct to Pret-a-Surf’s sporting take on vintage pinup style. “We wanted shades that our girl could wear playing tennis, surfing, or just lying on the beach.” Or, as it turns out, ducking the paparazzi.
Brooklyn Decker: Hollywood Calls, But The Bikini Stays In The Picture
Normally a New York fixture, Condé Nast Traveler decamped to the left coast last night for their annual Hot List party, celebrating the issue that designates everything that’s, well, hot. Yes, that meant the most sought-after hotels, spas, restaurants, and resorts worldwide, but also regulation hotties like Sofia Vergara, Emma Stone, James Marsden, and Brooklyn Decker. Decker, a first-time attendee, was glad that this year’s fête made its way to Los Angeles. In town for meetings with her agents, the model-turned-actress seemed content to jostle among the Hollywood-heavy crowd. She recently made an eye-catching turn in Adam Sandler’s Just Go With It, and more’s on the way. “At the end of the day, it’s all so incestuous as it is,” the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition cover girl reasoned of her foray from modeling to the big screen. “If you look at magazine covers, it’s all actresses, and if you look at campaigns, it’s both models and actresses. I think the lines are so blurred between the two industries that I really feel fulfilled making movies.” That’s not to say she’s retiring the bikini any time soon.
Rachel Roy Hears Voices (But Don’t Worry, She’s Into It)
Paper Man, Kieran and Michele Mulroney’s new film about a friendless writer (Jeff Daniels) and a lonely teenager (Emma Stone) who become unlikely friends, is about people who hear voices. Kieran Culkin (as a mopey stalker-type) and Ryan Reynolds (as a blue-tighted superhero) play imaginary companions who speak to the lead characters in anxious moments. Safe to say that at Ugg and the Cinema Society’s sneak preview last night at the Crosby Street Hotel, more than a few of the guests knew what that’s like. “When don’t I have a voice in my head? I think if we don’t speak to ourselves and keep ourselves motivated, we’re not really alive,” explained Rachel Roy (pictured). Not that they’re all good. Stone copped to having the proverbial angel-devil arguments in her head: “I call that the little green goblin, the anxiety—you know, that little panic in you,” she said. Luckily, she manages to muzzle hers. “I can usually quiet it down with the good ones.” At the after-party, there were plenty of angels (Dree Hemingway, Carolyn Murphy) on hand. As for the other guy? Well, Mike Myers and Alan Cumming dropped by, too. Who knows what invisible little troublemakers goad them on?
