Now Trendabl

Think Instagram, designed with the fashion set in mind—that’s what Trendabl, a new interactive iPhone app launching today, aims to be. Though the app is available to everyone, Trendabl founder and CEO Jon Alagem designed it with fashion editors, stylists, celebrities, designers, bloggers, etc. in mind. For the launch, Alagem enlisted a high-profile group of tastemakers and brands, including Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Harley Viera-Newton, Brad Goreski, Diane von Furstenberg, Equipment, and Barneys New York, to contribute. How it works: Snap pictures on your iPhone, and using Trendabl, you can edit the photos, post captions, tag the pictures with the product and retail info, and share it with the app’s community. The result is a new social media platform to exchange trends and express personal style.

“We wanted to create a visually beautiful social media platform that allows users to share and discover the latest trends in fashion,” Alagem tells Style.com. “It was important to us to create an environment that encourages conversation between users, friends, brands, and tastemakers. Fashion has always been about showing off your style and that’s what we aim to accomplish.”

Before the app’s debut today, a few of Trendabl’s famous contributors shared their picks exclusively with Style.com. “Look 11 from men’s Givenchy Spring ’12. The imagination and workmanship behind this suit is the reason why I love fashion. This look is perfection to me,” says Goreski. From Viera-Newton: “My two favorite new accessories for Spring ’12. Gold Tom Binns Last Laugh Shark Cuff and white gold Alison Lou Happy/Sad studs [pictured, below].” The Barneys crew also has studs on the mind—they said they are still stuck on the Chloé Susan studded ankle boot. Mulberry’s Splashy Bash

Though L.A.’s consistently warm weather didn’t turn out for Mulberry’s party at the Chateau Marmont last night, a host of Hollywood starlets dedicated to the Brit brand, including Kate Bosworth, Gia Coppola, and Nathalie Love, more than did their part to set the scene for the poolside bash.

In between chatting with Bosworth, Mulberry’s Emma Hill observed that city’s importance to the brand. “We always really build the collection when we’re here,” she explained of the many trips she takes out West each year, which are soon to increase when they open a store in L.A. some time next year. “It’s always a film that kicks off every season, so I screen a film with my team and then we come here and go digging for vintage at the Rose Bowl [Flea Market].”

Nearby, Harley Viera-Newton discussed her current music project with the line. “Their collections are so music-driven, so I’m working with them on this whole music channel on their Web site that they’re developing to go along with their collections,” Viera-Newton said. And as if on cue—and in signature Mulberry fashion—the night capped off with an outdoor set by Lana del Rey.

Anna Dello Russo, At Large At Macy’s

Macy’s is upping its high-fashion game of late. Karl Lagerfeld’s line for the retailer hits stores at the end of the month, and last week, the department store announced Anna Dello Russo (she of Vogue Nippon and umpteen street-style blogs) as the guest editor at large of its in-house INC line. Dello Russo styled the new campaign and stars in it alongside Karolina Kurkova (above); for Fashion’s Night Out, she and the Czech supe will greet guests at Macy’s Herald Square flagship, too. She wasn’t on hand last night—this being August and she being Italian she was, of course, on vacation—but her new project was fêted in New York all the same, and a host of downtown girls showed up to celebrate. Sky Ferreira worked the DJ booth while guests sipped bubbly and models paraded around in the collection, and Harley Viera-Newton, Chelsea Leyland, and Becka Diamond all came for a look. Solange Knowles arrived with 7-year-old son Juelz in tow, who was looking a little displeased. Was it the flashbulbs? “He’s definitely used to it,” she laughed. “He’s just upset because my iPhone ran out of batteries.”

Partygoers mused on ADR hits past and the INC hits of the present. “Of course you’ve got to love that gold cherries hat,” Ferreira said. “I remember seeing her in this red dress with long gloves and big shoulder pads,” Knowles added. “All I could think was…incredible.” While they were referring to Dello Russo’s fresh-off-the-runway looks, Diamond had her eye on a piece from the new lineup: “I’m definitely getting that fuchsia, shaggy faux fur jacket. Obsessed!” With prices starting at $30 and maxing out at $169, why not?

Popping Bottles “Just For Fun” On Avenue Crazy

Ever try to assemble a group of fashion types for something that’s not a launch, an opening, or a worthy cause? Harley Viera-Newton, Lily Kwong, and Stephanie LaCava gave it a shot last night, hosting a dinner in the East Village that was billed as “Just for Fun.”

In truth, Dom Pérignon had one of its top wine experts in town and figured it could do a little outreach. The promise of vintage Champagne pairings at a hip new restaurant (Edi & the Wolf, on Avenue C) was enough to draw the likes of Elise Øverland and Alexandra Richards (above) to the eastern fringe of lower Manhattan. “I’ve been to Bangkok more recently than I’ve been this far east,” Waris Ahluwalia admitted.

He and some 40 others dined on Austrian mountain cheese ravioli and arctic char in a dim room reminiscent of an old shed. The ambience, however, was a little more glam. “I’m a big fan of Champagne. I like to pop bottles in the club,” Viera-Newton said. She nodded at a bucket of Dom that was sitting on the copper-topped bar. “I’m planning on popping all three of those.”

Viera-Newton took off on the early side, to go DJ at Madame Wong’s. Richard Chai (who swung by with Phillip Lim) joined her, but not before taking a trip down memory lane. “When I went to Parsons, my dorm was just off Third Avenue, and we used to venture off this way,” he said. “This was way back when Avenue C, if you got that far, was called ‘Crazy.’ If you got to D, it was called Dead.” Clearly, not the case anymore. “That’s the nature of New York,” Chai noted. “No neighborhood is sacred.”

A Bit Of Sunday Joie De Vivre

Looking for Shala Monroque any given Sunday? Try Café Gitane, her go-to brunch spot. But it was at the Crosby Street Hotel where Monroque (pictured, right), along with Bonnie Morrison (pictured, left), stylists Lisa Tobias and Julie Ragolia, and a mix of fashion girls, stopped for a bite (and a mimosa) to celebrate their new appointments as Joie’s “Sunday Girls.” The contemporary label tapped the ladies—along with Elettra Wiedemann, Harley Viera-Newton, and Pamela Love—to offer their secret spots and favorite haunts for the label’s new City Guides, which will accompany its Fall 2010 lookbook. And the brunch dress code? As you’d expect, this isn’t a slumming-in-sweats crew, though the talk did turn toward the athletic; hitting the gym seems to be a preferred Sunday pastime. “Joe Zee took me to a hip-hop class and I had to leave within the first 15 minutes,” Morrison confessed with a laugh. “Everybody knew the steps and had their special moves or whatever, and of course Joe goes every week, and then there was me.” Monroque empathized. “I went to a ballet class the other day and I’m not going back. In New York, you have ex-professional dancers next to you in class!” Word to the wise, New Yorkers. But they won’t be the only ones to benefit from the wisdom of the City Girls; Joie will eventually select ambassadors in L.A., London, and Paris to share their trade secrets, and will donate $1,500 to each girl’s charity of choice.
