Fawning Over Faunesque

-------

With Kate Moss’ 18-carat turban-crowning Harry Winston sapphire seered into memory, and Solange Azagury-Partridge’s store opening party on the schedule for tonight, we’ve got jewelry—big jewelry—on the brain. So there’s no better time to introduce you to the work of Albino D’Amato. When the Milan ready-to-wear designer set about creating jewels for his Fall show, he was thinking big, too. The new collection—made of brass, bronze, silver, and Swarovski crystals and called “Faunesque”—takes its inspiration from mythology, grotesqueries, and the animal world. Carp, owls, and monkeys caper on outsize rings, necklaces, and bracelets. Ranging in price from about $650 to $2,000, the collection will be unleashed in stores in July.

Wrapper’s Delight

-------

As rumored over a week ago, Kate Moss donned a turban for her duties as co-host of the Costume Institute Party of the Year. We undersand it’s adorned with Harry Winston’s 18-carat
royal blue sapphire. It’s still early on, but she also appears to be one of the few red carpet-goers who chose a short dress.

Stealing Harry Winston

-------

Last night jewel thieves took off with somewhere between $60 and $80 million in knuckle-dusters, baubles, precious gems, and other diamond-heavy finery in a spectacular raid on Harry Winston in Paris. We’re sure Mr. Winston would disagree, but there’s something so romantic about a heist, don’t you think?

Well, looks like we were wrong all along about A-Rod and Madonna. According to the Yankee, they’re just friends! Totally our bad. Won’t happen again.
