Fashion’s Next Frontier

-------

Style.com’s new iPad application just launched on iTunes. Building on the success of our iPhone app (750,000 downloads and counting), we’ve reimagined the experience for the iPad, with enhanced navigation; the addition of details, front-row, and backstage beauty photos; increased video content; and more. This just may be the most convenient, elegant, and compelling way to see fashion shows, period—it’s certainly more comfortable than sitting on those spindly chairs lining the runway.

The Apple Of Oscar’s Eye

-------

Oscar de la Renta—old guard though he may be—isn’t resisting the tides of change. Don Oscar may not tweet himself (he leaves that to @OscarPRGirl), but he embraced the future with a live-stream of his Resort ’11 show on Monday. And on that runway, another harbinger of the digital age: ODLR iPad-case clutches storming down the catwalk. (De la Renta admitted to WWD that he’s just ordered one of the tablets himself.) The embroidered Mosaico leather pouches ($290) will arrive even before the Resort collection—versions in carnation, espresso, marigold, and stone go on sale June 30. Where? Exclusively on www.oscardelarenta.com, of course.

Pad Protector

New product, new category. But in the mad rush to buy an iPad—the better to get your Style.com on the go, of course—we initially neglected that most important accessory: the case. (For the accident prone—OK, us—it’s a necessity.) Dooney & Bourke’s new sheath is perfect: functional, inexpensive, and classic. It comes in a variety of neutral tones, like black, brown, white, navy, and tan (all versions come with a contrast red lining), but with a minimal design like this one, we like a bold color, like the lemon yellow or fire-engine red (pictured).

$65, available at www.dooney.com.

How Long Till We See An iPad In The Front Row?

-------

The world is furiously debating the merits of Apple’s new iPad tablet. Let the techies argue the specs. (You can follow the action here.) We’re asking the truly hard-hitting question: Will Suzy Menkes trade in her customary front-row laptop for one?
