The new double Cs: Chanel and Colette. In a spirit of chic sisterhood, the two opened yesterday in Paris what they call an “ephemeral boutique”—one that considerably ups the ante in the pop-up shop department. With freshly white-washed walls covered with sassy monsters by New York graphic artist Kevin Lyons, the former garage (down the street from Colette at 336-340 Rue Saint-Honoré) is hosting DJ sets (Elisa Sednaoui and the Misshapes are on the bill), a cupcake bar, Chanel bag customization sessions from club impresario-cum-graffiti artist André and others, and a Chanel nail bar throughout Paris’ nine-day fashion week.
“We’ve collaborated with Chanel in the past,” says Colette’s Sarah Lerfel, “and we were looking for another opportunity when we discovered this space, which is going to be a drugstore at the end of the year. For us this is a meeting both geographically”—the shop is about halfway between Chanel’s HQ on Rue Cambon and Colette—”and with products.
