Every day, we ask Style.com readers to decide “who wore it best” in our Look of the Day polls. Sometimes, we aren’t surprised by your choices—for example, Chanel is always a safe bet for first place. But when we asked you to choose between Beyoncé and Rihanna on Thursday, we were on the edge of our seats waiting to see the results. Both chart-toppers wore similar looks—denim cutoffs and crop tops—but Bey’s printed blouse and glinty gold crown earned her the top prize. Maybe next week, RiRi. Earlier in the week, we rounded up our favorite ’60s-inspired minidresses, like the ones we saw at Gucci and Miu Miu at the Fall ’14 shows. Chloë Grace Moretz won your vote in a pastel embroidered Miu Miu frock at the premiere of her new movie, If I Stay, but Alexa Chung’s lacy number was a close second. What else was on Style.com’s radar this week? Skater skirts, the Teen Choice Awards, and even summertime fur. See all of this week’s winners (and a few runners-up) here.
Here at Style.com, we’re already knee-deep in fashion month prep. In addition to seeing hundreds of new collections in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, we’re anticipating another impressive crop of street-style photos, which dictate how everyone will dress this fall. Until then, we’re still clicking through our favorite street-style moments from couture, Copenhagen fashion week, Montauk, and beyond. For Monday’s Look of the Day poll, we gathered our favorite bandanna looks of late, including Caroline Brasch Nielsen, who stepped out with a paisley Chanel bag outside the couture shows. Worn with a casual men’s shirt, it’s clear why she earned first place. Cleo Wade and Mia Moretti wore bold Moschino bandanna tops at Lollapalooza, and we’ve been trying to figure out a way to DIY them ever since. On Wednesday, we celebrated our favorite (and super-easy) beauty trend: the high, messy bun. Katie Holmes won your vote at the Life Is Amazing film event in New York, where she sported a soft bun, smoky eyeliner, and a dramatic one-shoulder top. Cara Delevingne was a close second: Paired with a gilded gown, her fluffy bun looked edgy and unexpected. What else was on our minds this week? Boyish trousers, Madonna’s greatest hits, and so much more. See all of the week’s winners here.
With fashion week but a month away, summer is drawing to a close for Style.com. That being said, we’re embracing the sunshine as much as possible before NYFW, namely with our Look of the Day polls. This week, we asked you to vote on your favorite minidresses, beachy braids, and even skateboards—things we will surely miss when the chill settles in. On Tuesday, we focused on feminine lace dresses in super-bright hues. Dior’s nearly-neon citrus frocks won your vote, while Elle Fanning’s embroidered orange Christopher Kane dress was a close second. Coming in third was Valentino’s striped number from Resort ’15, which would be perfect for a last-minute jaunt to Spain.
On Wednesday, we rounded up the coolest beat-the-heat summer braids. Amber Heard’s one-sided plait (which also showed off a glittering chandelier earring) won your vote and likely inspired hundreds of DIY versions. Rita Ora got in on the action with rainbow-dyed cornrows at Radio 1′s Big Weekend back in May, and Diane Kruger wore an intriguing double-braid to the premiere of The Birdge. On Friday, we found enough cool skateboarding pictures to make you reconsider your morning commute. Cara Delevingne, Binx Walton, and just about every guy on the Venice Boardwalk definitely know how to ride in style. Have you been keeping up with our Look of the Day polls? It’s our favorite way to share our latest obsessions, from fresh runway styles to looks we spotted on the street. It’s hard to play favorites, so we turn it over to you. The trends we were coveting this week? For starters, Monday had us feeling extra nostalgic for the nineties—Calvin Klein underwear is back. Since sporty activewear is still the cool-girl uniform of choice, it’s no wonder those thick elastic bands are popping up everywhere. Italian blogger and front-row regular Chiara Ferragni wore her classic sports bra under a sheer dress, an unlikely pairing that won your vote. On Wednesday, we dedicated our Look of the Day to Thor comic books. Marvel just announced the main character will now be represented as a woman, so we rounded up five of our favorite superhero-inspired runway moments of late. At Stella McCartney’s Resort 2015 presentation, models sported superhero-mask motifs on leather bags, jumpsuits, dresses, and even their nail polish. The cute, unexpected pattern was No. 1 in your book. What else was on Style.com editors’ minds this week? Models off-duty, Gisele Bündchen’s birthday, and summertime gingham. Click here to see all the winners, plus a few runners-up, for a full weekend of style inspiration.
This week, our collective conscience (and inbox) was overwhelmed by Paris couture. Between star-studded parties; hundreds of street-style pics; and, of course, the runway shows themselves, you could say we were a bit preoccupied. Our popular Look of the Day polls revealed everything we’re loving about the new collections, from the accessory you can wear now to the dresses destined for the red carpet. On Tuesday, for example, we took note of a couture mini trend: head scarves. At Giambattista Valli, models sported white bow-tied sashes that could surely help us all beat the heat this summer. The feminine, retro look was No. 1 in your book. First runner-up Marco Zanini also opted for head scarves at Schiaparelli, enlisting milliner Stephen Jones to design a luxe do-rag. On Wednesday, we took note of the stylish mommies-to-be spotted at couture, namely Ashleigh Good’s much-buzzed-about closing look at Chanel. It took first place by a landslide. What were we coveting on Thursday? Fendi’s new Karlito buggie, of course. It debuted on the Fall ’14 runways and has quickly become the fashion set’s favorite party prop—Alexandra Richards (above) gave the furry bauble a kiss on Tuesday at Fendi’s party. The Kaiser himself was even spotted carrying Karlito through the streets of Paris.
