Regarding Marc Jacobs’ Prada Obsession

-------

FREE ARTS NYC 15th Annual Art Auction with MARC JACOBS & SCOTT CAMPBELLMarc Jacobs has a weakness for Prada. Specifically, Marc Jacobs has a weakness for women’s Prada overcoats that feature various embellishments. It’s a look that he’s been cultivating for some time.

Consider, for instance, the black, Japanese blossom-adorned number from Spring 2013 he wore to The Great Gatsby premiere last April. (Anna Wintour—coincidentally? —showed up in an identical garb.) Or take his twinsie moment with Love magazine editrix Katie Grand, in which the pair sported matching rainbow fur coats from Miuccia’s Spring 2014 collection. (Grand also styled him in drag for a spread in Industrie a few years back.)

Jacobs continued his streak at last night’s 15th annual Free Arts NYC Art Auction, which honored artist Scott Campbell. His topper of choice? A blue, monochromatic—and decidedly fur-less—bejeweled number from Spring 2014. Superfan, indeed.

Lupita Nyong’o Is Headed to the CFDAs

-------

Lupita Nyong'oThe CFDA Fashion Awards just got a little more star power. It was announced today that Lupita Nyong’o will be on hand to present the prestigious Womenswear Designer of the Year Award to Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra, or Marc Jacobs. After landing a Miu Miu ad campaign, being named People‘s Most Beautiful Person, and generally just dazzling the entire world with her elegance and charm, we wouldn’t be surprised if Nyong’o snagged a CFDA Fashion Icon Award by 2015 (the same award Rihanna will pick up this year). Next on our mind: What will she wear to the June 2 awards?

Marc Jacobs Casts Fall Campaign Via Social Media

-------

Marc by Marc

“Oh, you’re a model. Who’s your agency? Instagram?” Easy as it may be to pimp oneself out on the platform, the general consensus here at Style.com is that selfie-snapping should be kept to a minimum. The Internet is not your portfolio and iPhone pics are not your headshots. Marc Jacobs, however, has decided to add fuel to the photographic frenzy. Marc by Marc Jacobs is taking a page out of Nicola Formichetti’s book and plans to find a fresh face for fall via social media. #CastMeMarc began yesterday and runs through April 9. Runway to Red Carpet: Press Tours Aplenty and a Star-Studded CinemaCon

-------

Jennifer Connelly in Louis VuittonBusy week on the red-carpet circuit, ladies and gentleman. Stars stepped out for a bevy of events during the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas, and, in case you hadn’t noticed, the casts of Noah and Divergent have been on whirlwind press tours. Naturally, no one missed a sartorial beat. On Monday, Emma Watson attended a press conference for Noah in Beverly Hills in a multicolored dress from Peter Pilotto’s Fall ’14 offering, while her costar Jennifer Connelly chose a Louis Vuitton Fall ’14 dress modified with long sleeves to combat New York’s chilly temps for the film’s premiere on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Divergent‘s leading lady, Shailene Woodley, walked the red carpet at her film’s Mexico City premiere on Tuesday in a bright Spring ’14 Roksanda Ilincic gown accented with an asymmetrical black strap.

At CinemaCon, A-listers including Angelina Jolie and Mila Kunis flaunted fresh Spring looks. On Thursday, Cameron Diaz stepped out in a gray Victoria Beckham minidress with a pleated white peekaboo hem from the Spring ’14 catwalk for 20th Century Fox’s presentation. The same day, a glowing Drew Barrymore showed off her baby bump in a floor-grazing leaf-print Marc Jacobs gown from the Spring ’14 runway for the Big Screen Achievement Awards, where she was honored with the Female Star of the Year award.

Here, more of this week’s red-carpet highlights.
