Kelly Klein Makes A Splash Once More

Twenty years ago, Kelly Klein released her first Pools tome, a tribute to the swimming pools around the world in all their various forms. Klein, the ex-wife of Calvin Klein, is back again with a new set of iconic images from some of fashion’s finest photographers, including Steven Meisel, Juergen Teller, and Theo Wenner, in her follow-up book, Pools: Reflections, out this month. “I felt enough time had passed to do the sequel,” Klein tells Style.com. “I’m a bit obsessed with the architecture of pools and the water—swimming is such a form of relaxation for me.” This latest rendition combines pools with fashion, architecture, sculpture, and art. From a Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott photo of a naked Sasha Pivovarova to a Patrick Demarchelier photo of two lovers underwater, this edition is certainly sexed up from the last. One of the book’s highlights is a Bruce Weber photo, featured on a limited-edition ATM T-shirt ($85) on sale at Barneys. (ATM designer Anthony Thomas Melillo also just launched cashmere styles of his namesake label exclusively at Barneys earlier this month.) “I choose the guy and girl underwater photo by Bruce Weber because of how sensual it is,” Klein explains. “You feel what it’s like to be floating underwater with someone—it’s sexy.” There’s also a limited-edition ATM T-shirt being sold by ACRIA (all profits from the book are being donated to the organization). Here, the Weber shirt makes its debut on Style.com before this evening’s private book party at the Barneys New York store.

The Givenchy Gang

Last season, Gisele led the pack at Givenchy, but Riccardo Tisci already has a new set of stars. Replacing Bündchen is Stella Tennant, who is featured in the campaign image (above) the label released this morning, along with Joan Smalls, Stef van der Laan, Daniela Braga, Simone Nobili, Jarrod Scott, and Rodrigo Braga. Of the Fall 2012 shots, lensed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Carine Roitfeld, Tisci tells WWD, “It is about happiness and the freedom of expressing yourself with your body. It shows a dynamic, happy, and fun world, which is what fashion needs.” Of the British stunner, he says, “Stella represents modernity, elegance, masculinity, and femininity at the same time, together with a dynamic, energetic beauty.”

The School Of Dsquared²

For most high school students, the books have closed on this academic year and summer is now in full swing. Not so for Dean and Dan Caten’s co-eds—the Dsquared² designers, who staged a full-on high school prom at their Fall ’12 show in Milan, continued with the theme for their latest Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott-lensed ad campaign. The short film (debuting exclusively here on Style.com today) is an ode to teen rebellion in the sixties, featuring the designers and a very good-looking crop of students, including models Benedikt Angerer, Simon Van Meervenne, Liuk Bass, Ralf Javoiss, Daphne Groeneveld, Frida Aasen, and Bette Franke. Though they are sporting the label’s sweeter-than-usual offerings for Fall, like button-downs, brushed mohair sweaters, and cropped pink pants, don’t be fooled—they are up to no good. Watch the full film, shot at London’s Ragged School Museum, to see what they’ve got up their sleeves.

Visionaire In 3-D

For its last issue, Visionaire set a world record for the largest magazine ever produced (it was fittingly dubbed the Larger Than Life issue #61). The newest edition might not win any awards for its physical size, but #62, which is all about Rio de Janeiro, has a cool factor all its own. Boldfaced names like Gisele Bëndchen, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, Lea T, Adriana Lima, Richard Phillips, Karl Lagerfeld, and Marilyn Minter collaborated on a series of 3-D images celebrating Brazilian culture that appear on double-image slides. To look at them, there’s a stereoscope (which creates the illusion of depth), designed by NYC-based design studio aruliden, that comes along in the 3-D lenticular case. Visionaire 62 Rio ($375, available this week at www.visionaireworld.com) made its debut at the Iguatemi-hosted private launch party last night in São Paulo, but here, Style.com has an exclusive first look at some of the issue’s best images by Lagerfeld, Minter, and Jason Schmidt.

Eastern Promises

Lane Crawford is one of the Far East’s premiere shopping destinations, and for its Fall campaign, the store stayed close to home. For the new images, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Lane Crawford selected a fully Asian cast of models, runway and campaign stars all: Liu Wen, Ming Xi, Shu Pei, Fei Fei Sun, and Xiao Wen Ju. Marie-Amélie Sauvé styled the beauties in pieces from the collections of Alaïa, McQueen, Balenciaga, Celine, Givenchy, Haider Ackermann, and more. Above, an exclusive first look at the new campaign, and below, behind-the-scenes video straight from the set.
