The CFDA just got a little—well, actually, significantly—bigger. Today, the Council of Fashion Designers of America named 32 new members, including Suno’s Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis (above), who won the 2013 Swarovski Award for Womenswear, Jennifer Meyer, Todd Snyder, Creatures of the Wind’s Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters, Lulu Frost’s Lisa Salzer, Illesteva’s Daniel Silberman and Justin Salguero, and more. “Acceptance into the CFDA family is validation of a designer’s talent and it is an opportunity to access the many offerings and programs provided by the organization,” CFDA CEO Steven Kolb told WWD. The council, which hosted its 2013 awards bash last week, is now up to a whopping 454 members.
The CFDA Awards, which, sponsored by Swarovski, will be broadcast tomorrow morning exclusively on Style.com, were held tonight at Alice Tully Hall, and we’ve got to say, it was a particularly competitive year. Honorees Riccardo Tisci, Vera Wang, Colleen Atwood, Oscar de la Renta, and our very own Tim Blanks all took home their much-deserved trophies, and winners of the CFDA’s Womenswear, Menswear, and Accessory Designer of the Year Awards, as well as the Swarovski Emerging Designer Awards, were announced. Congratulations to this year’s victors, all of whom are listed below.

The CFDA Fashion Awards are set for June 3 (tune in the following morning to watch the exclusive broadcast here, on Style.com), and to introduce the designers nominated for the 2013 Swarovski Awards, the crystal house has created a trio of films. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been debuting the shorts. Today, we release the third and final film, which introduces the nominees for Swarovski’s Award for Womenswear. Get better acquainted with Creatures of the Wind‘s Shane Gabier and Chris Peters, Cushnie et Ochs‘ Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, and Suno‘s Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis, above.
The Swarovski Collective has helped over 150 fashion talents since its inception in 1999. This season, the crystal house’s initiative has given its support (and its stones) to fourteen cutting-edge talents. To celebrate and document the designers’ creative processes, Swarovski has produced behind-the-scenes films that follow every label on its journey down the Fall ’13 runway. Style.com will be giving you exclusive looks at two of Swarovski’s videos from each of the four fashion weeks. Next up is Suno, who, designed by Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis, showed its Fall collection on Friday. To view all of our Fall ’13 Swarovski films, click here.
As we enter into a month of fashion shows, we’ve asked some of this season’s biggest stars and most anticipated new talents to offer a sneak peek. Naturally, it’s a busy time for everyone—designers and fashion watchers alike—so we’re pioneering the split-second preview: tweet-length previews at 140 characters or less.
