This June during the London Collections: Men Spring ’15 shows, emerging designers Alex Mullins and Craig Green (whose Fall ’14 range is pictured, left) will debut their latest lineups with the support of Newgen Men. In addition to Green and Mullins, the initiative, backed by Topman, will continue to sponsor eight other returning menswear designers, including Agi & Sam, Kit Neale, and Astrid Andersen. “It is an incredible honor to be part of Newgen Men,” Green said. “The support is an incredibly valuable tool in allowing me to progress my business, for which I am very grateful.” The London men’s shows will kick off on June 15.
Believe it or not, it’s already time to start talking about Fall ’14. This morning, the British Fashion Council announced the upcoming season’s NewGen Men recipients: Ten (the largest number since the platform was launched in 2009) emerging labels will receive Topman-underwritten funding to present at the London Collections: Men shows in January. Alongside such returning names as Shaun Samson—who made strides during Spring ’14 with his reflective BMX-inspired shapes (left)—and Astrid Andersen, NewGen Men welcomes three freshman brands to its roster: ready-to-wear label Common, former Fashion East star Kit Neale, and innovative footwear designer Diego Vanassibara. The British Fashion Council and Topman have awarded seven up-and-coming talents with NEWGEN Men sponsorship for the Spring ’14 season. First-time honorees include Agi & Sam (designed by Agape Mudmulla and Sam Cotton), Astrid Andersen, and Nasir Mazhar, while Matthew Miller, Lee Roach, Shaun Samson, and Martine Rose are returning NEWGEN veterans. The designers will receive funding to present their lines at the London Collections: Men, which kicks off June 16, and join the ranks of former winners like J.W. Anderson, James Long, and SIBLING.
