Au Revoir, Carine

The headline this morning on “Carine Roitfeld Quitte Vogue Paris.” After a decade at the helm of the French glossy, Carine Roitfeld—the editrix who, as much as anyone else, inaugurated the cult of the editor—is stepping down to pursue new projects. What are they? At present, no one’s saying. She’s got “a few weeks” left at the magazine, which may or may not include the Fall ’11 collections. Will she give up her front-row seat, whatever comes next? Not likely, we’d say—but just in case, we’ve rounded up a few our favorite moments at the shows. (And there’s plenty more where that came from.)

Business of Fashion previews Industrie‘s list of the 50 fashion folks it considers the most influential creative forces working in the industry today. A controversial sampling? Yes. But of course, that’s exactly what such lists are for. [BOF]

Karl Lagerfeld. Coming to Macy’s. Repeat: Karl Lagerfeld. Coming to Macy’s. With a new one-off capsule collection. In 2011. All we can think: total world domination? [WWD]

Fashion’s favorite transgendered model, Lea T.—confidante and assistant of Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, and frequent Givenchy runway and campaign star—will be appearing on Oprah, according to reports. On any other day, this might be the most unlikely revelation of the news cycle, but today, well, see above. [Hint Mag]

And speaking of world domination, the ladies of Sex and the City are apparently game for a third film. We don’t know whether to be awed or horrified. [Vogue U.K.]

The Times tries to get a handle on Kim Kardashian™, brand. With her host of celebrity endorsements, fashion lines, Twitter followers, and general fame/infamy, KK—and her sisters KK, KK, KK, and KK—are becoming an empire unto themselves. [NYT]

Speaking of celebrities, Jennifer Lopez—a celebrity who, we’re the first to admit, has done a deal more than Miss Kardashian—is returning to fashion. Following the quiet closure of her Sweetface line in 2009, she’s pretty much stayed out of the business, but Lopez and husband, Marc Anthony, are set to unveil a new “lifestyle fashion venture” with Kohl’s today. And Giorgio Armani is putting his stamp on another new cell phone. This time it’s the Galaxy S smartphone from Samsung, and it looks pretty great—which means, in all likelihood, it’ll be Europe-only, prohibitively expensive, and they’ll only make about eight of them. [Hot Hardware via Racked]

Prince William has finally popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton (in Philip Treacy, left), and the English media is more than ready. Vanessa Traina Walking New York Shows? Maybe

Show packages are piling up at our desks, and as we begin to sort through them, one unexpected face jumped out at us: Vanessa Traina. The Elite model and girl-about-town has been with the agency for a while, but with the exception of a sultry Paris Vogue shoot, has little to her portfolio. So will we see her on the New York catwalks? We hear from her agent it’s still unconfirmed, but she’s definitely into the idea—if it’s with the right designer.
