In the run-up to NYFW, everyone and their mother is jockeying for a coveted seat in front of the runway at Alexander Wang’s next show. But this Monday, the designer is offering fans and fashion editors alike a peek behind it—he’s releasing a new video, shot by filmmaker Peter Szollosi, of the backstage antics at his Spring 2010 presentation. (The video marks Monday’s arrival of the Spring accessories collection at Wang’s e-commerce site.) We’ve got a sneak peek, below, and while we know from experience that backstage at the shows is a hectic, harried, stressed-out place to be, Wang and his model-muses look as glamorous and calm before they hit the catwalk as they do strutting down it. It might be a little trick editing, or it might just be the guy’s how’d-he-do-that Midas touch. Either way, we’re watching.
Check out www.alexanderwang.com this Monday for the full video.
Fashion’s It boy Alexander Wang just can’t sit still: It seems like he’s always off receiving an award or being photographed with one of his numerous model gal pals. But you’d be wrong to assume Wang’s an all-play-and-no-work kind of guy. This Wednesday, he’ll add stateside e-commerce to his portfolio. “I love the idea of shopping in bed,” he told us. See? He’s even busy when he sleeps. The shopping section of the site will feature the full bag line, including the elusive Coco mini duffel and Donna hobo, as well as shoes and women’s T by Alexander Wang Web exclusives. There’s also a multimedia component: Peter Szollosi shot a behind-the-scenes mini-film documenting a recent photo shoot by David Armstrong and model Vincent LaCrocq (that’s a still, above) for men’s T by Alexander Wang, a new collection that debuts this Spring. And if that’s not enough to make you log on, Style.com readers can start shopping on the site 24 hours before anyone else. Set your alarm for 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, log on to www.alexanderwang.com, type in the code AWSTYLE.COM, and get your shop on!
