Fashion’s Night Out Stages Its First-Ever Runway Show

-------

And you thought last year’s Fashion’s Night Out was a big production. This time around, in addition to all of the in-store activities; the designer, model, and celebrity appearances; and the spontaneous street parties on September 10, Vogue and SPEC Entertainment are producing an open-to-the-public fashion show. With 200-plus models, the September 7 extravaganza will be the biggest public fashion show New York (or at least the 1,500 guests that will fill the seats at Lincoln Center, pictured) has ever seen. The likes of Karlie Kloss, Chanel Iman, Raquel Zimmermann, and Daria Werbowy will show off key Fall trends. Tickets will go on sale this summer through the Lincoln Center box office, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the New York City AIDS Fund. In the meantime, stores interested in participating in Fashion’s Night Out can register as of today at www.fashionsnightout.com.

Bringing Humanity To The Fashion World

-------

Last night, the contemporary art scene in Chelsea was just as buzzing as the stores. And—no surprise—in some pockets there was heavy overlap between the worlds of art and fashion. At Lehmann Maupin Gallery, Juergen Teller opened an exhibition called Paradis, blurring the distinction, as Teller does so deliciously, between commercial and art photography. The subject of his show? A series of portraits of the Marc Jacobs ad man’s past muses Charlotte Rampling and Raquel Zimmermann, shot nude as they lounge and pose in the Louvre. Said the elegant gallerist Rachel Lehmann of the show, “Juergen brings humanity in a very, very strong way into the fashion world and this is, I think, why Marc Jacobs likes working with him so much.”

Model-Gazing At The Cooper Square Hotel

-------

“I feel like a different person,” said an almost unrecognizable bleached blonde Raquel Zimmermann last night. The model was taking in the impressive views from the Cooper Square Hotel’s glass-walled Penthouse at DNA’s pre-Met cocktail party alongside Lapo Elkann, Natalia Vodianova, Justin Portman, George Cortina, and a bevy of the agency’s beauties, many of whom were staying at the new boutique hotel. (We also spied Nadja Auermann and Amber Valletta having a tête-à-êtete on a lower floor.) Zimmermann will accompany Proenza Schouler’s Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough to the gala wearing their design; Edita V. told us she’s planning on Chanel; and Magdalena Frackowiak will wear Tom Binns jewelry and a dress that was literally sewn on her body by Thakoon Panichgul. “All the Vogue girls” had a shoot for the magazine on Sunday, said Zimmermann, “and all we could talk about was what we’re wearing, how we’ll wear our hair, and what time to arrive.” Drop-dead looks, it seems, don’t make you immune to Met ball fever.
