Exclusive: Azealia Banks For Alexander Wang

-------

Click the image above to launch video.

For his T campaigns, Alexander Wang tends to forgo the models for musicians. First there was Santigold and Spank Rock, then Die Antwoord, and now, for Fall, the foul-mouthed rap-and-pop darling of the moment, Azealia Banks. It’s not the first time the two have linked up. Banks was Wang’s date for the 2012 Met Gala, as well as providing the music for his Spring 2012 AW campaign with Liya Kibede. Why the move in front of the camera? “She exudes a certain rawness that makes her a very unique talent,” Wang says. “I loved working with her on this video for T Fall 2012, and think the collaboration captures a collision of energies.” Daniel Jackson directed the spot, which features Banks rapping “Van Vogue” from her recent EP 1991, with styling by Alastair McKimm. The video debuts exclusively here on Style.com.

Fashion Week, Turned Up To 11

-------

Every New York fashion week is filled with its fair share of memorable performances, both at shows and at the host of after-parties. This week should be no exception. On Thursday night, the Citizens Band, spearheaded by Karen Elson and Sarah Sophie Flicker, is set to turn Milk Studios into a sexy boudoir for their burlesque-style performance in Erickson Beamon’s “Deca-Dance” presentation. (They will, of course, be wearing Erickson Beamon pieces.) Following the cabaret show, Lissy Trullie, Cleo Le-Tan (sister of designer Olympia Le-Tan), Venus XX, and rap group Wu-Tang Clan are each doing a set at Milk for the MADE and Lexus Launch Event. If that’s not enough to make your night, the Kills’ Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince (a.k.a. Mr. Moss) will be rocking out at the Standard’s Boom Boom Room—we’re told it’s their last performance for a long time before they go back to the studio to work on their next album. On Friday night, the Ting Tings and Santigold (who fronted Alexander Wang’s T ad campaign for Fall ’11) will be on hand to put on a show (Ting Tings) and DJ (Santigold) at The Box for a Glamour party. The following day, Style.com has learned that actress and singer Alia Shawkat, familiar to many from her starring role in the much-missed sitcom Arrested Development, will be singing during Rachel Antonoff’s presentation at Drive In Studios.

Exclusive: Santigold And Spankrock For T By Alexander Wang

-------

If you’re out and about in New York City, you may already have spotted Alexander Wang’s new T campaign stars. Guerrilla-style posters featuring rockers Santigold and Spankrock have already begun papering the city. The duo follows Ashley Smith and Diplo as the new faces of T for Fall ’11, shot by Dan Jackson and styled by Alastair McKimm. They also appear in Wang’s new campaign video, a remix of Santigold’s single “Go” by Switch, Diplo’s partner in Major Lazer, debuting exclusively below.

Why Santi and Spank? “Their endless talent, incomparable energy, and most of all, down-to-earth personality make them the perfect representation for T,” Wang told Style.com. All of those qualities are on display in the behind-the-scenes video the label created surrounding the campaign, which arrives today at AlexanderWang.com. That’s not all that you’ll find on the site. The Fall ’11 T collection hits the designer’s e-commerce boutique today as well.
