Christopher Kane Gets All The Girls: Joy, Sara, Bee, Nicole…And Barbie

-------

Versus is sponsoring the Art of Elysium’s second annual Bright Lights dance party this Friday, which means not only will Donatella Versace and Christopher Kane be in the house, but also that the label’s tiny cupcake-foil minidresses will be in large supply at Milk Studios. While hostesses Joy Bryant, Sara Moonves, Bee Shaffer, and Nicole Vecchiarelli do some last-minute vying for the numbers below (our personal suggestions from a Fall show full of worthy contenders), Kane will be playing guest of honor at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Center, where he will treat the young patients to a workshop in designing and making clothes for Barbies. “We’ll cut the fabric from scratch, use simple shapes, and glue on gemstones,” the designer told us. “I’m sure they’re gonna love it.”

To buy a $150 ticket to the dance—which supports the charitable work of other art, Hollywood, and fashion world types in hospitals across the country—visit www.theartofelysium.org. It won’t be an entirely selfless gesture: Limited-edition T-shirts featuring the original Bruce Weber Versus ad campaign (left) will be available for sale at the event, and items from Kane’s Fall collection for Versus will be available by special order.

Friday Night Lights

-------

What do you do when you’re opening a New York City outpost of your L.A.-based charitable organization—one that encourages artists of all stripes to dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions—and you want to drum up support? If you’re the Art of Elysium’s Jennifer Howell, you enlist four of the best-connected young arts and media types in town to throw a fabulous dance party. The actress Joy Bryant, Vogue‘s Sara Moonves, soon-to-be-Columbia alum Bee Shaffer, and InStyle‘s Nicole Vecchiarelli are hosting the charity’s first New York benefit, dubbed “Bright Lights, New City,” this Friday night, May 1, and they’ve pulled out all the stops—booking the newly renovated Jane Hotel, rounding up Santigold to perform and DJ Matt Creed to man the tables, and inviting all of their designer and model friends to attend. In other words, this isn’t going to be a stuffy old benefit. Grab one of the remaining $100 tickets by e-mailing nyrsvp@theartofelysium.org, and put on your party dress.
