Coachella Chronicles: Jacquelyn Jablonski

-------

Coachella kicked off in full force last weekend, and Style.com reporter Alison Baenen has been talking to all the festival’s best-dressed concertgoers about their desert duds, favorite bands, and more. Below, Jacquelyn Jablonski shares her Coachella secrets.

What she’s wearing: A vintage top and necklace, Helmut Lang shorts, and a pair of Nikes.

Number of times at Coachella: Two.

Who She Came to See: “I’m excited to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Grimes, and Wu Tang. My friends and I also had a lot of fun dancing during Moby’s DJ set and at Benny Benassi.”

Words of wisdom:Do wear lots of sunscreen and comfortable shoes. Don’t wear anything you are scared of getting ruined because you will get dirty.”

Non-negotiable festival essentials: “Sunscreen and face paint.”

The craziest thing she’s ever seen at a festival: “The Tupac hologram during the Snoop Dogg performance last year. It was pretty amazing. The surprise appearances on stage by 50 Cent and Eminem made it an unforgettable show.”

Stylist Jen Rade: “Take A Xanax And Good Luck To You”

-------

At the moment, the only thing on the minds of fashion insiders is New York fashion week. Jen Rade, the Hollywood stylist behind Angelina Jolie’s winning red-carpet looks, is the exception. The L.A.-based Rade, who came in at number six on The Hollywood Reporter‘s 25 Most Powerful Stylists list this year, is in New York this week to promote her new gig as a spokeswoman for T.J.Maxx and Marshalls, and she doesn’t plan on staying in the city for next week’s madness. “Other than the editors and buyers there, most people at the shows are just scenesters,” Rade tells Style.com. “So instead of going and sitting in the dark scribbling little shorthand notes and hearts on the program, I’d rather go on Style.com and look at each look slowly without all the clamor and illusion.”

Surprisingly enough, Rade doesn’t really have any favorite designers or labels, either. “It’s about the individual piece. It makes no difference to me who made it, where it came from, if that designer’s hot or not right now,” says Rade, who also dresses Pink and Kim Kardashian, among others (and originally started out in the business doing costume design for hip-hop videos for the likes of Snoop Dogg, Tupac, and LL Cool J). “Sometimes there will be a year where I hate everything from a certain designer, and then all of a sudden our aesthetics will align.”

So how does she create so many smash hits (think: Jolie’s now notorious Atelier Versace gown at the Oscars this year and the sky-high slit that went with it)? “They’re not my dolls to dress and we have to agree on what they like. Ultimately, confidence is the best accessory,” she advises. “After all, these women are the ones who have to walk around with all the lights blaring and photographers up their asses. I’m like, ‘Take a Xanax and good luck to you.’ It’s very nerve-racking for all parties involved, but I have to just put them in the limo and let go.”

Meet little Duda Bündchen (pictured), the 5-year-old niece of Gisele Bündchen. Duda already has modeling gigs under her belt, and now she’s trying her hand at designing (talk about a “young designer”) a collection for the Brazilian brand Brandili Mundi. [Huff Po]

Michael Kors has opened his largest store in China. The new 2,400-square-foot shop in Beijing is one of five of the designer’s Chinese retail outposts, with offerings that include accessories and ready-to-wear. [WWD]

After Jean Paul Gaultier sent his Amy Winehouse-inspired Spring Couture collection down the runway, the late singer’s dad, Mitch, called it “an insult.” For the first time since then, Gaultier has talked publicly about the collection: “I was surprised when she died that no one in fashion did an homage to her,” he told VogueTV over the weekend. “Her look was fabulous, fantastic—it was unique.” [Vogue U.K.]

When Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre took the stage at Coachella this weekend, they performed with a hologram of Tupac Shakur. Reportedly, the two are in talks on a joint tour that would regularly include the virtual Tupac. [Rolling Stone]

Snoop, Top Dogg At Coachella

-------

Top models (Karlie Kloss, Hanne Gaby Odiele, and Raquel Zimmermann), designers (Alexander Wang), and celebrities (Kate Bosworth, Katy Perry, and Lily Collins) decamped to Indio this weekend for Coachella. Photographer David X. Prutting was on the scene for Style.com, capturing the crowd as they took in the headline acts and hit the party scene. What musician proved to be this year’s biggest draw? Two words: Snoop Dogg. The likes of Fergie, Josh Duhamel, Rose McGowan, and Chanel Iman all told us they were there to catch the rapper in action. There was also, of course, a large contingent there for Radiohead—including Alek Wek, Kloss, Jessica Szohr, and Ruby Aldridge—and the Black Keys, Wang and Zimmermann among them. In case you weren’t about to make the trek to the desert this weekend, here is Style.com’s postcard from Coachella.

Kate Moss’ Wedding Style: Doggystyle? And More…

There’s a new addition to the Labelux family—and it’s a boy! (Well, sort of.) The privately held Austrian luxury goods conglomerate has acquired Jimmy Choo, reportedly for the sum of $800 million. Choo joins Derek Lam and Bally in the Labelux clan. [Dealbook]

Will Snoop Dogg play the Moss/Hince nuptials? MTV U.K. cites an intriguing report—from one of the world’s most scurrilous tabloids, so take with a grain of salt—that the rapper is in talks with the super’s people. Apparently he’s the go-to choice of British royalty (actual, or in Kate’s case, sartorial). Snoop said on English TV that he’d also been asked to play Prince William’s “stag do” but had to attend a barbecue instead. [MTV U.K. via Racked]
