Today is Lana Del Rey’s 28th birthday. The melancholic pop songstress, aka Lizzy Grant, has good reason to celebrate, hot on the heels of releasing her highly anticipated new album, Ultraviolence, earlier this month. Del Rey’s breakthrough Born to Die record has become a bona fide classic despite receiving early critical backlash. (Who could forget her famous flub on SNL?) It will forever be our official soundtrack of summer 2012. New hits, including “Brooklyn Baby” and “Shades of Cool,” are already in heavy Spotify rotation here at Style.com.
Del Rey has become a fashion icon in her own right, due to her chameleon-like style. One day she’s rocking a signature flower crown and bohemian dress onstage, and the next she’s channeling Jackie O. with a statement-making bouffant alongside A$AP Rocky in her “National Anthem” music video. Sometimes she sticks with a classic blue-jeans-and-white-shirt combination, paired with perfectly polished tips. Here, we’ve collected several of our favorite Lana looks from over the years. With her star now on the rise again, this next year will surely deliver more memorable moments from the reigning queen of “Summertime Sadness.”
